Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair reviews and comments

Coming off of the heels of the previous game, this one has a much more interesting setting and more colorful (and likeable imo) characters. The trials are jaw-dropping and the world building is awesome.

This game is excellent. Having previously seen the anime Danganronpa the animation, I had not considered it useful to play Danganronpa: trigger happy havoc, since it was the same story. So I bought the second game Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye despair without knowing what to expect (it's funny it looks like a pub for household products), and I confess at the beginning of the game have been skeptical: I had found the prologue lonnnng, and the graphics " displeasing ". But finally, it was a big surprise. First, Synopsis: hope's peak school is an Academy that accommodates only the most gifted teenagers in a particular field (eg: the ultimate photographer, the ultimate heir, the ultimate Cook). One day, imprisoned by a teddy bear called Monokuma, students are forced to participate in a morbid game if they want to escape: for this, a pupil must kill another. If such a thing happens, a Tribunal will take place (after a time of investigation of the crime scene) during which the remaining students discuss and debate to find the person responsible. If the offender is not unmasked, all the pupils except this one are executed, and he will be able to escape, washed from his crime. If students succeed in finding the culprit, they are executed, and the remaining pupils continue their lives in the "prison" imposed on them by Monokuma. And that this game is taking. As I said, I found the beginning quite long, certainly because I was expecting something else; It's a Visual novel, but it's absolutely not to be missing because of it. As soon as the first murder is announced, it just becomes captivating. One is then inevitably caught in the mood, especially thanks to the work of the composer who did a great job for the music, especially during the investigations (to collect information before the class trial) with the music "homicide ". After each investigation a class trial (or Tribunal) follows. These class trials are great: we discover how a murder took place, debating, assuming, contradicting the assumptions of others, while approaching the culprit little by little... and this with different phases of gameplay. It must be said that all the murders are very ingenious, and it is every time a real delight to discover the unfolding (cf the 5th CT TMTC). Beyond the stress generated by the time limits and our "bar of life" that decreases when one goes to the wrong, there is the doubt: which character is the culprit. A strong point: one really attaches to the characters, some more than others; and then when we get closer to the truth, and suspicions are created or confirmed on our favorite character, it's terrible. Also, during the game, days elapses, and every morning is started by an announcement of Monokuma: it is each time a little stress, apprehended by the possible announcement that a body was found, perhaps that of his favorite character. The anxiety or stress that can be felt is nevertheless accompanied by a bit of welcome humor, thanks to these wacky characters and certain situations. Regarding the Visual: I did not like too much at first but I learned to appreciate. For body executions and discoveries, there are very nice little animations, which are really a "+". Regarding the character designs, they are original and very good. Since I don't know what else to say, I'm going to end up on three things: 1) proficiency in English (or Japanese) is required to play. That said, there will apparently soon be a French version so oklm people. 2) I know it's obvious but you never know: better to play the first game Danganronpa: trigger happy havoc or have seen Danganronpa the animation before playing Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye despair. 3) the anime Danganronpa 3: the end of hope's peak school is likely to spoiler elements of the game. So I advise to play imperatively to SDR2: GD before seeing this anime at the risk of making you spoiler SDR2 and not understand anything at DR3 (this is what unfortunately happened to me, but it did not spoil me too much experience). So here buy it if you are looking for a good game of mystery, suspense, survival game, Detective (I may have invented genres but Shhh), in a universe a little eccentric (but not too much). Here I hope I have not written too much but anyway nobody will read so caput. And I'll also put a pcq note that's my criticism and I do what I want: 17,75/20 because yeah, that's fine.
