Aporia: Beyond The Valley reviews

Guaranteed evaluation without revelation-in summary: an excellent game for its atmosphere and for the game experience. "Do you want to leave aporia?" asked me? Well Yes and no... Yes because I just finished the Adventure (in 12 hours, roughly a big weekend of play) and that I finally progressed with thoroughgoing and observation (although I have unlocked only 19 successes on 41, but it's not inconceivable considering the expectations of most of those q UI remain) which makes me feel like I have "well" completed the adventure. Not because the atmosphere of the game is very nice, a big blow of heart for the sound atmosphere of the game (headphones, imperative, the sound atmospheres are involved, very diverse, well worked, and the music are very beautiful), the decorations are sometimes impressive and always give an impression of openness and immensity while the progression in the world is relatively accompanied... We're good, why leave him? Few flaws to my liking, but let's mention them: some brutal closures (crashes) during the game, little, but the manual or automatic backups allowed me not to be penalized; the game which is a bit bent at the very beginning of the party; a relatively short playing time (However, according to me, it takes at least eight hours to finish it correctly, underneath the player has rushé the adventure and missed important challenges, so be careful reading the other comments, the 4 hour stories of game are nonsense!) but largely compensated by the beauty of the game and the striking experience proposed; puzzles not too complicated which could disappoint players who love puzzles. In advantages: a game to get in hand very simple (no possibility to configure other keys, but it's really not a problem), one is well accompanied by a pleasant interface during interactions; almost no passage to the Tomb Raider (delicate passages to be achieved); great atmospheres (including fear...); animations (which reveal the story) very colorful and enjoyable (hang on to follow the story, it's not obvious); the price of the game which is more than profitable (1 euro for me, at this price do not hesitate!). In conclusion: I'll play the adventure because the atmosphere is great, light and relaxed. I really want to dig on the side of the remaining successes too... in a few months, time to forget a little... In any case a very good game that has earned its award for best independent game in 2017.

It's going to be hard to find a game as beautiful as aporia, which is not a AAA. You will need a powerful machine to take advantage of the ultra graphics without experiencing framerate drop. The setting is sumptuous, with an organic forest, a day/night cycle of all beauty and beautifully rendered lights. The light, precisely, is at the heart of the gameplay. Very quickly, we are put in possession of a bright stick that will serve on multiple occasions throughout the game. It allows to illuminate its path, of course, but also to light lanterns, unlock doors and solve puzzles in order to progress in history. Retors at first, the puzzles are actually not so difficult to solve. Just observe. The energy contained in the stick runs out, and it will have to be recharged by recovering vials scattered all over the place. Be careful however not to click on it while your stick is loaded at 100%; the vial will disappear, but the excess energy is lost. There is little risk, however, of being on course, so many refills are numerous. The story is cryptic. Our character wakes up in an abandoned Temple, in the midst of a valley filled with the ruins of a lost civilization. There is a belief that a cataclysm has occurred; to understand the causes. We can do this through slideshows to activate thanks to the bright stick. Since they are dumb, you have to be attentive in order to identify which character does what and thus understand the stakes and the links that unite them to each other. Aporia consists of 5 chapters; but the main thing is in Chapter 3, which is all alone as long as the other 4. At this point, we have access to almost the whole Valley, which we can travel as we see fit in order to visit the points of interest in the order we want. The place lends itself perfectly to exploration, especially as we benefit for once from an agile character, who can run at good speed and jump. Too bad that no animal is modeled in the thriving jungle; but the excellent soundtrack brings the illusion of life that is lacking in this valley. In the trees, it squeels, it's a mess, it's twitting; You can easily imagine birds and monkeys going from branch to branch. The end brings all the answers, as soon as we followed the story. In conclusion, aporia is a beautiful adventure, a game of all beauty that I can recommend with pleasure.
