Early Access Review BATTALION 1944-Much Potential, but also a Good Game?
It's complicated.
I share my Opinion here. If someone else has a different Understanding of a good Game, or is different From me, this is perfectly normal.
The first Time I played BATTALION was in 1944 at Gamescom 2017. It was a great Way to invent the remaining Time. During the first Game, I was particularly stuck with the convincing Gunplay. It didn't have an extraordinary Twist, or a particularly eye-the-fact graphic, but it just worked and made an extremely Lot of Buck. The Developers also made a sympathetic and angadic Impression.
Now, about half a Year later, it's appeared as Early Acces on Steam and I'm not quite sure. I Would most like to give neither a Thumbs up nor a Thumbs down at this Stage. Unlike on Gamescom, the Main Game mode is not a Team Deathmatch, but the classic "Counterstrike Mode." Attackers try to lay the Bomb and the other Team tries to prevent this. So Far so good and for the Long-term Motivation (a compromising Mode should follow) certainly helpful. The Graphics are similar. Neat, but nothing special. A lot has been done about the Gui And the Menu guide. It no longer looks like a poorly programmed Mod, but like a finished Game.
My biggest Problem lies with the lauded Game-and-gunplay. It still goes easily by hand, is intuitive and runs very fluidly. The perfect Basis for a good Shooter. However, a few Things bother me a lot personally and at the Moment keep me from regularly putting a lot of Time into BATTALION 1944. On the one hand, these are all sniper rifles that are definitely too strong. Each Shot is a "One-shot." Whether in the Body or the Foot. Into the Cap or Fingernail. Whether it's five Meters or over the whole Map. Even a "no scope" is hardly less precise than a "hard scope."
The biggest Criticism on my part, however, is the Precision that all Weapons also exhibit in the Jump and in The barrel. This seems to be the Same as with complete Gridlock. So you quickly find yourself on a Server where everyone bounces around with "One-Shot" weapons, jumping around Corners and shooting constantly from the Hip. But This doesn't have much to do with a Shooter to play in the Time of World War II.
In addition, I noticed the Community very negatively. Either this is made up only of young Children and behavioural Adults or I have always played at the wrong Time so far.
I don't have to tell anyone About Waffenskins. As long as it only stays with cosmetic Items, I have absolutely no Problem with that.
All in all, I see a lot of Potential in BATTALION 1944 and I also believe it will develop even further. At this Stage, however, I cannot fully recommend it.
Updates to follow.
