About

I have been learning to make games in my free time and love making small-yet-solid arcade games with simple mechanics. Please expect 'Bit Blaster XL' to be a small, re-playable, arcade score-chaser game where the only goals are to constantly beat your previous score and unlock some extra ships. I greatly appreciate feedback and will do my best to ensure support for my games. Please contact me through Twitter, My Website, or the forums if you encounter something wrong with the game, something misleading on the store page, or you just want to say hello.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this; I really hope you enjoy playing my game.

  • Your ship can not stop moving; so you must turn it left and right and use your boost/brake to keep from crashing into an ever increasing amount of enemies.
  • Your ship is always shooting, so make sure to pick up more ammo and the wide variety of awesome power ups and pick ups to help you survive longer.
  • Get the highest score you can while collecting coins to buy more ships that are faster, shoot faster, or have more shields.

  • A throwback to the classic quarter eating arcade games of the 80's. Bit Blaster XL is a retro styled, addictive, and fast paced arcade shoot 'em up!
  • Easy to learn, simple arcade style Controls to turn your ship, boost, and brake. Keyboard + Gamepad Support. (not a twin stick shooter)
  • A variety of wicked Power ups like Split Shot, Heat seekers, Lasers, and much more to assist your survival.
  • Screen clearing Bombs, Ship Shields and Boost Pickups to help you survive longer.
  • Collect coins to unlock new ships with unique attributes to give you an edge in the Leader board.
  • Endless survival (infinite) score chasing game play with a classic 'bullet hell'-like arcade style.
  • Steam achievements, leader board & Trading cards! (with emoticons & profile wallpapers)
  • Totally rad and ridiculously basic retro pixel Graphics.
  • Featuring gameplay directly inspired by some of my favorites, such as; Luftrausers, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Galaxian and Geometry Wars.
  • Unique chip tune songs for each ship by Spiff Tune. (Soundtrack available as free DLC)
  • An alternate Manual Fire mode for those that want a different experience.

  • The in game audio/SFX was provided by my mouth and some royalty free SFX from FreeSFX.
  • The soundtrack is by the artist "Spiff Tune" and is available as FREE DLC.

System requirements for PC

Minimum:
  • OS: Windows XP
  • Processor: Dual Core +
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM
  • Graphics: 512MB +
  • Storage: 300 MB available space
  • Additional Notes: Is your computer older than ten years? You should probably get a new computer before you consider more games.
Recommended:
  • OS: Windows 10 (why not recommend the newest?)
  • Processor: Got four cores? Great! Bit Blaster XL will run smooth on most things, but especially on four cores.
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: 512mb +
  • Storage: 300 MB available space
  • Sound Card: I made a bunch of the sound effects by making stupid noises with my mouth into a pretty low rent consumer microphone, so I recommend not having a sound card, or you may realize this.
  • Additional Notes: When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Bit Blaster XL reviews and comments

Product received for free Bit Blaster XL is a retro casual game of The old School Of Nickerversion Studios Story: As with most games in this Category, no Story is included, the Game is intended only for short-term/entertaining Amusement. Atmosphere: The Atmosphere that the Game exudes is very tense. You try to collide with Nothing and No One at all Costs. That Is exactly what such Games are supposed to do. Game features: When I started playing, I expected a simple asteroids clone, what I got was something else entirely. The Game may be simple at first Glance, but you can expect so much Content from the Fewest Games in this Price range. There are two "Difficulty Levels": Car shoot and Non-auto shoot. The difference is that in one Mode the limited Ammunition is simply clenched wildly and in the other it has to be shot with another Button. Keycount and Control: The Game is played in Auto-Shoot Mode with three Keys (A, D for Controlling the Spacecraft, Space key for the Booster). Alternatively, you can play with Gamepad. In the second Mode, the Game is also played with Strg, which is needed to fire the Ammunition. The Controls initially take getting used to every single Spacecraft, but after a few Deaths, you have the Hang of it. Each Spacecraft has its own score in each Mode, which must be surpassed, with a massive Number of PowerUps to help. (E.g. Shield, various Fire Modes, Weapons, Ammunition). There are many different Opponents, some of whom can also defend themselves. Some Opponents drop Coins. If you have collected a certain Number of Coins, you can buy new Spaceships. The Menu is fantastically designed! It is clear at first Glance what awaits a hostile Spaceships flying against the Title and the various Horsemen and explode in a white Swath of Pixels. Extremely detailed, the Menu alone could be sold on Steam! The only thing I lacked in the Menu was the Interactivity. Just ball a bit on the visualized Content before the game starts and practice a little before it gets down to Business. Graphic: The Game is as Befits retro games of this Kind, kept in Pixel Style, nicer, you can't design such a Game with PixelArt. Translation: A German Translation is missing, but it would also be Superfluous and too much Work. The Game principle, Control and everything else could easily be understood even without any Writing. Music: The Music is fascinating, the Developer must have sat on it for a long Time. These are several 8-bit Endless Loops that don't get annoying or boring. Each Spacecraft has its own Track. Innovation: Is this Game Innovative? Was there anything like that before? Do these Questions Answer when both are answered positively? The Answer is THREE MAL YES! Simply because we all know these Types of Games, everyone knows the Game principle, everyone knows how it works. The Innovation here is in the Details. Smallest Changes that eclipse many similar Games from before. Fun: Bit Blaster XL is hard to beat In Fun. The Game just has everything it takes. And more! I don't want to say more about The Fun of the game, the Game just speaks for itself. Price/Performance: The Buyer cannot imagine a better price/performance for money. A Ton of crammed with Content and the Fear of getting hooked by this Game ... And for less than one Euro?! The Developer could sell Bit Blaster XL for 10 times without having to expect bad Reviews. I'm definitely happy to have this Game in my Library and can only recommend it to others. Game function: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Graphic: 7/10 Innovation: 5/10 Music: 8/10 Game Fun: 10/10 Price/Performance: 10/10 Total Score: 8/10 An Indie Masterpiece! Omakoma over and out!
