This is my attempt at making Minecraft in 24 hours with Gamemaker.

It includes:

  • Dynamic voxel engine
  • Random heightmap generation and conversion to voxels
  • Basic cubic collisions
  • Grenades & explosions which blow holes in the terrain
  • Tilemap texturing with auto grass on top voxels

I had a lot more things planned but I ran out of time. But I'm going to keep working on it and release the project as a tutorial voxel engine.

Things I'm going to add:

  • More weapons & bombs (Cannon, bazooka, machinegun, dynamite, homing missle etc.)
  • Enemies that hunt you down (Then the goal will be to kill them all or stay alive as long as possible(if they respawn))
  • An options menu for the terrain generation and all game variables
  • Rising water
  • More material types (Rock, sand, wood etc.)
  • Random weapon crate drops
  • Random airstrikes
  • Landmines
  • Sky effects (Clouds, sun, stars, rain, snow)
  • Day\night cycles

Controls:

WASD - Horizontal Movement

Space - Jump \ Fly Upwards

C - Fly Downwards

Double tap space - Toggle Fly Mode

Hold Ctrl \ Mouse Left Button - Throw Grenade

R - Regenerate World

Tab - Toggle FPS Display
