Brotato reviews and comments

Saw this on the steam store for $6 and it looked like a good steamdeck game so I bought it. I couldn’t be happier. It’s like a way better version of vampire survivors. I like the presentation, gameplay, and rogue like elements a lot more than vampire survivors. It’s very addictive. The first impression has been strong.

I love this game. It’s fucking awesome.

I’ve really enjoyed trying out multiple strategies with the different characters. This game is excellent for what it is. Very happy I bought it randomly for 6 bucks.

I’ve played this a lot. Like 25 hours. It’s fun and additive. After beating  the game on danger 0 I cruised for awhile beating it multiple times with multiple characters on dangers 1, 2, 3 and 4. And since then I have tried to beat it on Danger 5 for a while now with no success. I’ve been close. I’ve made it to level 19 a couple times and to 18 and 17 a few others but then I get swarmed by the mob. It’s been fun though. It’s a reset where I have to really think about my build because there isn’t a lot of room for error. I’m pretty determined to get at least 1 win on danger 5. Then I might retire Brotato. But until then I will keep trying.

I stopped trying danger 5 for awhile to get some new unlocks. That was a good way to change it up. Keep it from getting frustrating.

At 39 hours I finally beat danger 5 with an Engineer. I made it to the final boss once before with engineer and died with like 10 seconds to go. It was devastating but it made me know I can do it. It took probably 10 more tries but I finally did it. My build was perfect. 3 red 3 purple Eng weapons. Decently high engineering, I think like 58 but it wasn’t crazy. But then I had around 120 HP which is huge and I had a moderate amount of regen, dodge and armor. The combo of all three, plus 3 health turrets kept me in a state where if I didn’t fuck up and get smoked all at once I could last out the round. And I fucking did it. I haven’t decided if I want to beat the remaining unlocks or not. I may continue or I may just retire Brotato on that pleasant victory. But for now I sleep.

I played one more night and got a few more wins with new characters. I honestly could keep playing but I think I’m going to stop for now. Maybe I come back and play it again in the future but probably not. I really enjoyed this simple, addictive yet surprisingly deep game.

Final Score: B+
