About

In a sci-fi world from B horror movies, Cards of Cthulhu allows you to build your own deck of insane spells. Use them to defeat the terrible henchmen of Cthulhu and rescue your girlfriend that was kidnapped.

How does it play? The game is fast-paced and easy to learn, however, mastery requires foresight, improvisation and dexterity. In the deck building phase, you must analyse two options of cards and build a deck that has both synergy and specialization. In the combat phase, your cards are shuffled and only 3 cards will go to your hand. You then have to quickly improvise a combination to deal damage to the opponent, that can react and surprise you, forcing you to adapt to the circumstances.

Where is the Roguelike part? When you are killed, you will have the opportunity to build a new deck. Enemies will re-organize in new groups for a new experience. But don’t worry, you won’t start from zero. Permanent rewards will help you progress in your quest.FEATURES
  • Unique Card RPG gameplay based on spells;
  • Build your own 6-cards deck using 27 of the 40 cards of Cthulhu;
  • Learn to improvise new card combinations during a fight;
  • Roguelike procedural generator for a new deck and groups of opponents each game;

Cards of Cthulhu reviews and comments

Very Simple in principle, damn difficult by Game itself. You pick two Cards (Abilities) at the Beginning of the Game, up to a maximum of 6 if you have defeated the necessary Opponents. If you Lose, you start all over again. Very good Game for by the way = > Repeat factor.

Game is quite funny but not for the Prize. By the way, there is no Tutorial And you are thrown straight into the game at the Start (not even a Start menu is switched in between but can be reached by Esc in Hindsight). I would be lying if I said "it's absolutely not Fun" because for that I have the first just Under 2Hrs to be deepened in the Game. Partly satisfied and partly annoyed by. ^^ Expect no real Depth here like in other Card games ... In fact, I would say "Card Game" only superficially to that. The "Cards" could also just be a few Skills you have and fire one by one. 50% of Cards of Cthulhu are definitely Luck which cards you get in which order and the Rest is pure Management between the Order of how to shoot down the card/Skills and at what time OR with how much HP you use them because there are div bonuses here at less Healpoints or more Status Effects. Each Run you unlock more Life Points and new Cards, which can then be randomly selected from the next Run. In my Opinion, you could have done a few more Things for the almost €5s. The Opponents and Bosses are all Nameless just like the Protagonist ... You could have just given Names just just4fun for a little bit of Depth because there is not a story ... No even a Small one. You just ride a Motorcycle and a Shotgun through the Desert and kill Monsters who only have something to do with Cthulhu according to the Title. I don't know if it was really Laziness here or if you really thought something about it or if I didn't have enough Background knowledge of Cthulhu to know the Monsters there. Anyway, too much Minimalism is not always good for a casual game which you can play in 5-10min per Run. Am torn between my positive Feeling playing and what you look at sober here for your Money. Have finally decided on "No," even though I will continue to play it. No because you really get too little offered for 5eur and what you get focuses purely on The Essentials without even offering a bit of depth. You can certainly get similar Games on different Flashpages for free or as a Mobile Game. Too bad, a little less "Laze" and it could have been a long high. PS: Should the Game fall on 2eur in the Sale and less you can look in ... More than 2eur but please don't! PPS: Had to say that I have now unlocked all the Cards in the 2std. 10 Cards or so when it comes up. Now this is really disappointing ... Then certainly not for the Price!
