Clinical Encounters: Eddie Duran
About
Learn By Doing:
CE: Eddie Duran is an educational game for medical and other health professionals and students that uses a simulated medical record to teach how to help a patient quit vaping.
The game involves a simulated medical appointment with Eddie Duran, a 16 year old patient who vapes nicotine. You will take the role of a healthcare professional , make clinical choices, and experience outcomes based on the choices you make. You will be challenged to:
- Assess the extent of Eddie's vaping habit. Is he addicted to nicotine?
- Provide brief interventions to motivate him to quit.
- Help him develop a plan to quit successfully.
- Provide Eddie and his parent with educational materials.
You will complete typical steps of a patient encounter and receive feedback after each step:
- Review case history
- Complete an evaluation and brief intervention
- Make a plan of care for your patient
