DARKSTONE reviews and comments

Translated by
Microsoft from Deutsch
Dragons, Skills and Goblingold I played Darkstone on my Brother's Playstation 1 at the time and would rather not know how many Hours I spent with this Game. In fact, Darkstone originally came out for the PC though and I was just there and away when I watched the Game on Steam. Gameplay Darkstone is for me personally the Dungeon Crawler par excellence. You choose from 4 Classes or 8 Characters, all of which have a completely different Style. However, I would advise beginners to be careful with the Magician, as he can't put much in. We beat each other through the Countries more or less linearly and have to procure 7 Crystals in the process. There is always a Top Card with 2 randomly selected Quests each and the then procedural 4 Levels per Crystal. Darkstone offers a very simple RPG by clichently improving your Skills per Level, finding valuable Magic books in the Dungeons and also unlocking Class-specific Skills in the Village. What fascinates me so much about Darkstone is its Simplicity: Even if the Game pursues a simple Style Of play, you can still expand your Character and discover many Features that many of today's RPGs no longer contain. So, for Example, our Character gets older, you have to feed and the Character can rest against Food Consumption. Also, the Missions often offer minor Puzzles and occasionally there are also unscripted Sidequests in which some People in the Village ask for Help. A bit annoying, as you always forget who the Client was now. However, The Control takes getting used to. Since (as far as I can remember) there are always 6 Quests for a Country, Darkstone also has a very high Replay Value. Once you have completed the Game, you can start anew with your Character in the next higher difficulty. Achja, whoever gets a bit of yourself can even tinker with their own Quests. Story Darkstone tells a typical Hero story. The evil Dragon "Drake" (I'm not!) threatens the Land and to defeat the Dragon we need exactly 7 Crystals, of course. Furthermore, each Quest Still offers an independent Story, but one should not expect too much. In My Opinion, the historical Background is enough for a Game like Darkstone. But It could also have been a little more quiet. Graphic/Sound Hey, the Game is from 1999 and sometimes you don't really know what you're holding in your Hand. It is a little difficult to see whether something is On the Ground or not. But that's where the Sound comes in. For each Type of Item, Darkstone has its own Noise that you hear when it's dropped. Quest Objects are Also highlighted in this Way. Otherwise, Darkstone offers only a light Soundscape with a light Background Music. For a Dungeoncrawler, though, it's really consistent. A little bit of a shame I felt that only the English Dubbing is available on Steam, because I played with the German at that time. However, the Voices are limited to Video Sequences and Sayings such as "I don't have a Mana." Verdict Darkstone is a real Classic in my Heart and even today it still does a good Job. It scores with some cool Game Mechanics, has addiction Factor and you can play It comfortably. I can really recommend it to any Retrofan and Dungeon Crawler out there. Since the PC Version unfortunately does not bring a Manual, I strongly recommend having these Pages open while playing, as the Skills are not always so Meaningful by name: http://dsdb.it-taucher.at/attachments/212_Darkstone%20Manual.pdf http://www.mogelpower.de/cheats/loesung.php?id=17307 If you liked the Review, I would be happy if you follow my Curator Group on Steam to Get my Reviews of other Games as well.
