A side-scrolling shoot ’em up with elements of the ”bullet hell” subgenre, focused on avoidance and ”economic” weapon use for clearing paths rather than dominating the screen. The game takes influences from 80’s science fiction and early black metal, the latter which sets the tone of the game’s plot of betrayal and a mission doomed to fail.

Deathlight was developed and released as a result of a 10 week development cycle by freshmen students of the University of Skövde, Sweden, during the first quarter of 2010. The development team published themselves as Roughline Entertainment.
