This project is my final project for the Digital Humanities class (HIST-209) at Marist College.

Project Name: Normal Mapping & Depth in Digital Representations of Visual Art

Student: Jackson O'Sullivan

Project Purpose: This project's purpose is to provide a more accurate & detailed context for interacting with physical visual art installations by providing virtual recreations of texture & dimensions otherwise lost in 2D scans easily available online.

Project Goals:

• Create "normal maps" for existing works of art that provide texture & lighting detail
• Apply the created maps to virtual models of the artworks that follow their real-life dimensions
• Allow the user to experience these aspects of artwork otherwise lost through image archival

Data:

• High-resolution scans of existing artwork
• Measurements of the aforementioned works
