Disciples II: Gallean's Return reviews

The Best TBS of all time, long lived in the shadow of Heroes Heroes, Demiurgi, Disciples... Eh, there were times. Though It is on the shelf of the collector, still bought a game on Steam to support the developer. In Disciples in due time I spent a lot of time, passed it dozens of times: different races, heroes, artifacts and Persians. But Unlike the Heroes, where more time spent in multiplayer, in Disciples I poured into the company. A Magnificent plot, sometimes even sad (especially the story of Mortis and Galleana; for some reason, they mention Beren and Lutien from Silmarilion's grandfather Tolkin). Although everything according to the standard seems to be good against evil, but it is important how the story is filed. In Disciples II with this coped perfectly. There is no super 3D graphics, but the sprite animation that is in the game, will give a handicap to many modern games. In General, the visual style-a separate feature of the game. Compared to something more modern, Dark Souls comes to mind. In Disciples The same gloomy atmosphere, medieval art, buildings. And the musical component to become a visual style. This applies to the music and the voice of the characters. If you put it on the points: + Gloomy visual style with good detail. + Music to fit the visual style. + Combat System. If in Heroes in each cell, in fact, stood an army consisting of mobs of a certain type, in Disciples in one cell only 1 mob. Sometimes a mob takes two cells at once. + Unique Evolution of creatures. When improved, not only does the visual style change and some parameters are changed, but, at times, the mechanics of the creature change. Plus, when you build a city, you need to choose which branch will develop this creature. There is no improvement for money, the mob automatically evolves when gaining the right amount of experience. + It is Amusing, that if in Heroes magic is used during fight, in Disciples magic can be used only on the global map. Quite an interesting solution. Especially If you play as a sorcerer and can use the spells twice a day. + The Mechanism of capturing lands and resource buildings on them instead of capturing the mines themselves (as in Heroes). + The game also contains not a few items that you can use on the map or in battle. At what, for example, on 1 level scrolls and Poshi can use only certain type of hero. There are permanent potions, but the trick is that they give instant results. So, say, the hero of 100 health, the potion forever increases health by 10%. If you drink it now, you will have 110 health. But If you get before this 2 levels (you will have 120 basic health), and then drink the potion, then you will have 132 health instead of 130, if you drank a potion for 100 health. Same story with a potion for damage/initiative. + Between Cards You can drag only 1 hero and a limited number of items (usually artifacts, banners, etc.). If you now reread the previous point, the dilemma will arise, you want from the potions to get as much as possible increase. And, sometimes, you have to abandon the artifact and take in the trail. Mission Potion, then use it at the end of the mission to get a bigger buoy. + Neutral events and, on some maps, neutral fractions. I could write a lot about this game, for me it is № 1 turn-based strategy. Interestingly, after so many years, it is also interesting to play, and the graphics are also pleasing to the eye. In Total, 10 out of 10. P.S. If you have problems when running on WIndows 7, then: 1) Find the folder with the game: Staram\staamapps\comon\diskfonts II Galleans Return 2) Find the file Discipl2. exe 3) In the properties set compatibility with WIndows 7. 4) Sometimes It is necessary to tick "Execute this program as administrator". If you like, then even more interesting reviews you can find, if you subscribe to the curator: Suvitruf.
