DonDon Dungeon: Hiragana

Learn one of the Japanese alphabets through a fun and innovative platformer!

Take control of one of nine different adventurer kitties and explore the spooky Hiragana dungeons. Interact with the ghosts, known as Yurei, that haunt the dungeons to answer their riddles (hint: they're all questions about Hiragana, what a surprise)!

Beginning Hiragana

For those with an interest in learning Japanese, this simple yet exciting game is just for you! Though it doesn't go as in depth as a regular Japanese course, the game explains some basics of grammar and compound letter structure in a way that even Japanese language-learning newbies can understand.

Fun Quizzes

Be prepared for the formidable ReCap Boss who lurks in the dungeons, waiting to quiz his next unsuspecting victim. Luckily, you will have access to you're handy Hiragana scrolls, but try your best to complete the tests without them. There are listening and typing quizzes, since both spelling and understanding a word are essential to comprehension.

Click on various objects in the environment (and some in the UI) to learn the Japanese equivalent. Some items may provide more than one word, but don't worry about remembering them since you won't be quizzed on these words in particular. Just have fun clicking with the right mouse button and seeing if you can find them all!
