Dragon Ball: The Legend of Goku Remastered

Game Introduction

Dragon Ball: Gokuden (the Legend of Goku) Remastered is a fan remaster project of the original NES (Famicom) game known as Dragon Ball 3 : Gokuden released in 1989. 

Despite some differences in its story, the original game was the first Dragon Ball game title in history to cover the full story of Young Goku prior to Raditz's arrival. 

The remastered version aims to restore as much of the comic book story as possible while adding new stories and convenience features for the modern gaming environment thanks to Godot Engine.

Features

1. The Restored Legend

The Legend of Goku Remastered covers the entire story throughout the boyhood and Piccolo Saga of Dragon Ball as well as restoring deleted and modified scenes in the original game, Dragon Ball 3 : Gokuden (1989), including escape from Pilaf castle, episode with Arale, battle at the headquarters of the Redribbon Army, and marriage with Chichi.

2. A Refined Card Battle System

The Legend of Goku Remastered features a traditional card battle system in the original game. Using the same rules as the original game, select a card, compare the stars written in its upper-left corner, and the player with more stars gets the right to attack. Various skills have been redesigned and simplified by categorizing them into basic movements (punches, kicks, weapons, and etc.), advanced movements (martial arts schools or clans: Kame, Tsuru, and etc.), and special movements, which are displayed in the middle of each card in Kanji/Chinese characters. Your defense ability also may be affected by Chinese numbers at its bottom-right corner.

3. Added New Features

The Legend of Goku Remastered provides hidden episodes (including the hidden battles in the original game), hidden skills, side stories (challenge the Baba's test, collect dragon balls and make your wish real!). Moreover, the Remastered provides Tenkaichi Budokai Mode. As part of the mode, a newly designed battle system is used in which players choose from seven randomly concealed cards in the hope of achieving unexpected victories while maintaining the original balance of power.  

4. Compatible with Modern PC Environment

The original NES game has been completely rebuilt using a modern game engine (Godot Engine) to be compatible with a current PC environment, as well as supporting a 16:10 wide screen(can adjust screen size), saving system, and additional user convenience features. 

5. Multi-language Support

The Legend of Goku Remastered provides a multi-language support, currently Korean and Japanese(with Kanji) with the retro NES style fonts. Please note that English is not supported at this moment. The English translation will be supported in the near future. System

The latest version is Version 0.9.9.0 as of March 7, 2023. This information can be found from in-game Menu - System - Info.

The project is developed with Godot Engine(v.3.4.2 / v.3.5.1) and tested in the Windows 10 (64bit) PC system environment. 

This game uses a custom font that was specifically designed for this game which is a combination of the original game font, Galmuri (quiple.dev) (Kanji/Chinese Characters) and Pokémon Font (Korean).
