About

"Duke Grabowski is a loving tribute to the latter Monkey Island games, and wears its influence on its sleeve." - Kevin McClusky of Destructoid

Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler is a classic point-and-click adventure, created with love by an indie team that includes LucasArts alumni, Bill Tiller (The Curse of Monkey Island, Steven Spielberg's The Dig, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine). Play as Duke, a pirate who’s had success in pillaging, ransacking, and other forms of piratey goodness, but doesn’t know a thing about women. Help him prove to his crew he has what it takes to become a captain by winning the affection of the opposite sex – a task that is the most difficult challenge this seasoned pirate has faced! Along his journey to “sea-deuce” he’ll have to tame jaguars, fight zombie sailors, and even wrestle a gorilla!
Features:

A Sprawling Adventure – Enjoy tropical locations, solve amusing puzzles, and revel in comic pirate mischief.

Full Voiceover – Every wild character Duke meets comes to life with the work of talented voice actors, including Erik Braa (Telltale's The Walking Dead, League of Legends, Assassin's Creed Series) as the voice of Duke Grabowski himself!

Amazing Art and Animation – Duke comes to life with 3D animation and interacts with beautifully realized 2D backgrounds.

Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler reviews and comments

A fun, small and very short adventure With Weaknesses. The Game has really beautiful and lovingly drawn locations as well as interesting Characters. The Latter are unfortunately in 3D and seem a bit clunky, especially in a Cutscenes. The Style and Music are a lovely Tribute to Monkey Island and don't seem like a Copy. The Story is funny, but really seeehr short. A Maximum of one to two Evenings and one is through. It seems a bit like the first Chapter of a longer adventure or a Pilot Episode of a Series. Can you hope for more here?! Unfortunately, the Puzzles are really very simple and a lot of Brain Lard is not necessary. Items in The Inventory may actually miss completely. I think the "Ideas" or Skills approach of other People in The Inventory is really good. But I was completely missing from the fact that you couldn't combine any Objects here. For the Price and as a small Bite on Weekends or on Holiday, you are welcome to strike here! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1547216252 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1547216151

I played the Game completely in a Livestream today and was a bit torn there at the End. First Of all: For 2 Euros 2 Hours of Play, which I have needed pretty much, is okay as long as this Season delights. The Backgrounds are all beautifully drawn and the Sound Design is nice too. The Characters, however, seem completely out of place. The Animations are also more bad than right and often clip characters into each other or into themselves. The Puzzles were too easy for me personally, mostly the obvious one is the right Solution. Where it is not obvious, the right Solution is more or less pushed in your Face. The Gameplay idea that you get Companions with special Abilities is nothing new, but also works very well here. Unfortunately, you only need these Companion skills at 4 Or 5 Hotspots. The Dialogues are not a Masterpiece, but they are also not disturbing. They at least offer the right Solution to the Puzzles, and not every Branch of Dialogue is important. The Humour is subjective, I had to smile at least often. Putting It on a Par with Genre Classics but here at least mMn inappropriate Bugs I didn't have a Scene except for a Crash in the Final Cut. I make only a Limited recommendation here. The Game is probably very good for newcomers to the Genre. But it's no more than upper Cut, unfortunately, which is because of the Puzzles, the Characters and the length of The game. If €2 for 2-3 Hours of play is not too much, you can enjoy a nice little Point & Click adventure with Weaknesses here.
