European Ship Simulator reviews

Ship simulations have been around for a number of Years, many rather mediocre. I myself started with one of Astragon in 2006, was quite okay. Over the Years, some came out again and again, but they didn't convince me. The European Ship Simulator (ESS) has negative Criticism for Steam, but after some Videos on YouTube I still wanted to dare. Right from now: A Full Disaster is not the Game! The Player gets a Handful of Ships and some Ports to Navigate. That is quite enough for such a Game. At the Price you can expect no endless Oceans and 500 Cutters. There should be something for everyone. The Game is also accompanied by a Mission Editor that allows you to quickly create small Missions. This is quite extensive, so you can see the Time of Day, The weather and co. Also change via Trigger. Whether it's a Series of Waypoints you have to leave or a Ferry Crossing, with just a few Clicks, good Results are possible. Also laudable: The Player can take control directly in the 3D view, so it is not necessarily dependent on Keyboard Commands. Access to the Game is also quite easy. The 3D control stands also look good, they are small Details here and there, otherwise the Bridges are deserted. In direct Comparison to Ship Sim Extremes, which in my View is currently the only Alternative to this, the Ships appear more detailed, although the Size here is lower. The Driving Behaviour differs quite much, as the Ships lose Speed much faster in the Game. There are also some Downsides to the List: There is no Key Command to reset controls. Since there is quite a lot of Feedback outside the HUD, it is difficult to figure out how the Control is now set. This is evident in the Exterior view and overlay, for a Simulator that does NOT want to be operated in the Outside View, this is unfortunately very poor. Graphic options ingame are very mau. Apart from 3 Quality Levels, nothing can be changed. For me, that's too little! So who is this Game suitable for and is it a better Game than Ship Sim Extremes? Anyone who likes this Kind of Game can have Fun here, no Question if it's better than Extremes, you can't say properly at all. In terms of Scope, the elderly Ship Sim Extremes clearly has the edge! More Ships, Ports and Possibilities, such as changing the Environment via Script. For this, the Editor is also much more complex and difficult. ESS, on the other hand, can score points with a contemporary Graphics and Accessibility. Both Games have their Raison d 'Être, who is a Fan of Ships and wants to experience a lot about this Topic, but can cut Corners on graphics is better taken care of at Ship Sim Extremes. However, if You are more likely to build on the Optics and look for a reasonable Scope, ESS is in the right Place.
