In short: well but... It is the work of one man and it feels. Hum... very difficult to leave a notice. First installation I run the game... "Ooh ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ it looks complex... I would come back later... " A few months (years?) later... I am looking for a space opera simulation I (re) discover that I have evochron that hang out in my library. 2nd launch good good good... Let's go... Learn... A little time to take control... I'm a kiffe. I have the sensation a bit to find the x wing vs tie fighter in the gameplay... Neither completely arcade nor completely unmanageable. I hang and stay there... hours. I am absolutely not the countryside... and share in free style... It's great it's free... I'm going to make my first million dollars. first deceptions... the planets too empty... repetitive missions. the first millions made... Baby... the Thone rains... really no difficulty on this side... We buy the best ships, the best weapons... I decide to make the main inquiry, that I bend in 2.2... We will do a little tour on the side of the places a bit harder to access... and then there.... and after? So I'm charmed but not convinced. And yet I find the work of one admirable man. This game is a real success but also terribly frustrating. It might have been better to focus on a smaller space but more dense in content because that is what it lacks... density. The gameplay is exeptional and perfect limit for what is space flight in my eyes. I love everything about flying. ZERO crashing (it's become almost a luxury nowadays) the game is super stable. But it lacks a ship, it lacks factions, it lacks variation of weapons, it lacks variation of missions, it lacks ease to move on large empty spaces, it lacks clue to look for hidden areas... Etc... So I recommend the game but it has its limits. And the limit is simple... is that the game designer is alone.

Evochron Mercenary is a Space Simulation. And a pretty good one at that. And the Focus is clearly on simulation. There is a Story, but it is optional. You can't make it, so theoretically you don't have to do it at all. In the Beginning you choose his Class, Fighter pilot, Race "flyer," dealer association mining, mercenary. The Difference is made by the Ship and the Credits. This is hardly significant in the case of the 3 Civilian Ships. On one one one starts with better Drive, on the other with more Money and the other with a Miningbeam. Fighter pilot for the Military is a bit more restrictive and is really limited to the military Career. There you are still most likely to be in a Story, because you can and must do a lot of Quests here, while the others can get very far with Trade etc. Back to the Simulation Part, my Keyboard is 80% occupied with important Buttons. You shouldn't start the Game Without an Expression of Keyboard assignment. The Tutorial for all The Essentials lasts about a few hours is in English (as well as the Rest of the Game) and if you take Your time and really try and maybe read again (E.g. that the IDS has 5 Steps * hust *), then you can really be after that Hour Spacecraft navigate and steer. Those who like Simulations Will be happy, because it is a small Challenge to steer the Ship and then get Routine. Becoming a Fighter pilot is then stronger again. I would therefore recommend the Civil Career to the Beginner. The Mood is very nicely captured, the Music fits the Vastness of Space and a proper Space mood quickly comes up. And then off we go, do small Quests, explore Meteorites, Planets and other Sectors, and gather resources. Jumping back quickly through the Gate when you realize how unkind for the small Initial Ship some Sectors are and at some point might find a profitable Route for Merchandise. (There is an Ecomomymap and a Territorial Map.) And then the Ship is improved or you buy a different one and become a Fighter pilot or recruit a small Group of Ships or explore the not quite as empty Spaces between the known Sectors. Or would you rather race or have a military Career? You are actually free and as far as I have seen it so far it is even quite easy to switch between careers. 10/10 for simulation Genre 7/10 general Rating Even if it's a bit older (The Development has taken quite a long time and you can see that from the Graphics) for Gene Relievers definitely a Recommendation.
