At the end of his long voyage from the familiar lands of Earth to the edges of space, the man, at last, enters a world without borders, a starry domain in which all things are blurred, and vessels seem no more than phantoms.

The man keeps vigil on Chaos' helm as he steers a course he cannot see; only the radars probing impulse give space dimension and shape. Once the greatest and freest of species, man and vampire are again rivals for their daily survival across the bounds of space.

Trapped in their clutches, the man struggles to break free; if he fails, he may die; if he succeeds, the vampiric race may be on the fringes of extinction. For the hard-working astronaut, death means endangerment for his family.

Back in the safety of the space stations, members of the Chaos Team find deep and frustrated anger against an adversary denying their people a means of prosperity.
