Heatwave Antarctica
About
Heatwave Antarctica is a puzzle-platformer where you are a little piece of ice in a not-so-frosty Antarctica.
In fact, an unexpected heatwave started melting all the glaciers, so you need to avoid beam lights in order to not melt away.
You can also split yourself in two, trying to solve some puzzles along the way, but keep in mind that you will also split your lifebar!
if you reach a percentage of less than 25, you will die!
This game was made roughly in 10 days for a game jam with the theme "Heatwave".
Controls:
- "A" and "D" to move or arrow keys.
- Press down while jumping to split yourself.
- "Spacebar" to change character.
- "R" to reset if you got stuck.
- "ESC" for title screen.
Heatwave theme:
As soon as I read the theme announcement I decided to make a game about the climatic change due to the ozone hole.
I started thinking and came up with the idea of the icy cube and the the melting of the polar ice cap.
I spent a lot of time on the "melting effect" and on the beam lights before starting programming the actual gameplay.
For the sound part I decided to not use a proper "soundtrack", instead I just used sound effects to create something that I think resembles the "void" of Antarctic: wind, drops and water.
I hope you like the game, I had fun creating it!
