Early Access Review How even better than in ancient Times ... I've been playing Shoot ' em Up ' s (SHMUP) for 35 Years and have pulled many Top Titles on C64, Amiga, PC Engine, Super Famicom and Mega Drive. At those Times, SHMUP was the Top Genre, and a lot of Design work from the Japanese Top Developers flowed into the games. JnG Gold and 2 are Memorization Shooters without Bullet Hell, which also offer high level and opponent design quality, and are comparable to the Top Titles of the famous Japanese SHMUP Forges. The Opponents and Bosses may not be designed quite as turned off as with the show Bullet Hells Deathsmiles, Q-YO Blaster, Caladrius Blaze or Tenta Shooter, but JnG is not a Bullet Hell. I have already played through the Predecessor to Jets and Guns 2, Jets and Guns Gold (within 3 Days, about 27 Hours of Play) and I haven't had Such fun with a SHMUP in years. Unlike Raiden, Dariusburst CS, Sine Mora and various other SHMUPs, for example, where Weapons are changed by flying around colored balls and similar Systems upgraded (... And often unintentionally, because one simply reflies in the Balls), JnG has Currency and a Shop. This Innovation was felt for the first time in the Amiga Shooter Xenon 2 Megablast, and has also made Xenon 2 the best Shooter the Amiga has seen. The Overall Package of well-designed Levels, twisted Opponents and bosses and buyable ship and weapon upgrades Is extremely motivating. That's Why JnG Gold and JnG 2 are more Fun for me than many of the "famous" SHMUPs. It's just like an ARPG: You're motivated to gamble on to see the new Worlds and Opponents, but also to finally be able to buy and try Out the one highly coveted weapon or Armor after tedious Grinding and saving money. The Strengths of JnG are quite clear: Permanent Endurance action (JnG Gold is real) good level design, a wide Variety of cool Designed opponents and Final Opponents (The Guys at RiG Have a real deal on it, and you can also see this with the Brawler Rampage Knights) after all, there is also a Story.
