KAMUI
About
The mysterious object that had shimmered in the blue sky for countless generations and was worshiped by men as a god was in fact a massive man-made structure. And now, the silent vigil that was thought would last forever has come to an end.
Centuries have passed since the events of RefleX and mankind has once again attained civilization. Now, ancient technology born of a twisted mind sets in motion a chain of events designed to bring divine retribution down upon mankind. The key to bring forth the annihilation is KAMUI, a fighter craft based on ‘Xaffiquel Theory” brain fusion technology. This twin-tined instrument of mankind's destruction carries a terrible secret that ironically will prove to be mankind’s only hope for salvation.

I like this game for its retro side (it reminds me of reflex of the same Publisher), but it is also its biggest flaw.
I have the impression that little effort has been made. The resolution is limited, no possibility to configure the commands (and worse, it does not even indicate the keys, so you have to tweak or look for what is very painful), etc. In short, many small flaws that are not found in reflex strangely.
That said, I like the genre, and the games are pretty rare. Without being bad, it is not the rare gem either. Anyway, if you like the kind why not, otherwise, go your way.

I'm the kind of guy who loves shmups even I'm a task at this kind of game. In General for a shmup I really like I have to feel that with a little workout I can really improve myself. The last one to have made this effect on me was Cave's Deathsmile. Games like Ikaruga as great as they are-they are a bit too hard to master for Sunday players in my genre. So, where is KAMUI located?
Well I'd say it's definitely one of the best (if not the best shmup I've played). I've never been so appreciative of the difficulty curve of a shmup. My first part in easy mode ended in an indecent number of continuous (I had not understood the lock system for the enemies in the second plane) and needle thread I improved to the point of being able to finish it in one continuous in normal mode. And this in about ten hours. This is not a danmaku, the paterns of the enemies are easy to remember (those of the bosses too, except the 3rd one who is the most annoying with the end boss), the difficulty is gradual, the gameplay type "easy to learn hard to master"... Anyway, everything I'm looking for in a Shmup.
But what's great is that the rest also follows. Graphically I adhere to death (yet I'm not an unconditional of the ships but those are well done, there are color codes, the designs are interesting). The music is simply awesome (can be one or two in below but it would be picky especially when you know that it is the same guy who made the engine, the graphics (most) and the music) and finally, even the story is good! No, but you believe it? I, the shmups is like the games of baston, I do not play for the story. And this one holds in two cutscenes (beginning and end) and is enough to tell a simple story, logical and almost touching (I'm not kidding). Anyway, there's nothing to throw in this game. And apparently it's a doujin game (IE an amateur game), it proves how much there is potential even below the rank of indie game.
In short, I advise anyone loving having fun on a Shmup occasionally or seriously. The world record is held by a Frenchman (at just over 35 million points) and is tombable in my opinion. Whether on sale or even at full price, you will not regret the purchase.
