Haiku Review: A convoluted / story makes enjoyment lost / At least it's flashy
Favorite Thing: The cutscenes are incredible and the combat is super flashy (though a little too much at times).
Least Favorite Thing: I understood the story about as well as I understood Donald with the subtitles off. Bonus: I really disliked the combat at the end of the game. It was nothing but constant stun locks.
Date Completed: 2019-02-21
Playtime: 28h
Enjoyment: 6/10
Recommendation: If you're been following along closely you'll no doubt play it. Anyone else, don't bother. You'll just be lost.
I give it recommended and this rating is simply based on assumption, that no one in their sane mind will start playing Kingdom Hearts from the 3rd part. Cause if anyone will, the rating should be „skip“. Even for those, who only played the first, original adventure and now are looking to get more of it, should think twice. I'm a fan of the series, but not a die-hard one, I've skipped or just played around with most of the spin-offs, while my interests where exclusively in parts 1, 2 and 3. With that said, 3rd one feels way over the top in every way possible. Combat feels oversimplified, while glorious super moves are easily achievable effectively transforming combat experience into a spectating experience. The story, on the other hand, tries hard to tie up all the loose ends and assaults players mind with a legion of characters. Weird and often similar names, underdeveloped stories, no clear pointers towards the importance of a character downgrades the overall story to a point when you just want to be done with it. This also impacts the final boss encounter, which becomes somewhat annoying. But! Traveling to different worlds and experiencing their mini scenarios is still fun. It's bright full of love, tears, songs, and friendships, just as I remember it. So for anyone familiar with the game I still recommend this one, but for those who are looking for something new, or got hooked by the presence of Elza (or any other Disney character), I strongly suggest to acquire Kingdom Hearts 1.5/2.5 remix HD compilation and take it from there.
