Kingsway
About
Kingsway is an RPG in which you use a mock operating system to manage your adventure. Every element of the game is a part of the operating system. Enemies and traps are popups, backpacks are the file folders where you organize your items, and quests are emails. The world of Kingsway is randomly generated every time you play, and death is permanent.

You find yourself in the Game, happy that you can get on, discover more and more cool event/locations ... Drowning and discovering. And then you realize that you're not allowed to play the Game like that ... Hard. But then you play on, because it doesn't take sooo long, discover new Events, find out more about the World and is fire and Flame again. Maybe you finally pack it to reach the End Game.
And suddenly you realize that you don't play the game after discovering the timer anymore ... Because at least I don't like to be rushed. Should have an option to play a game without the timer-even if it doesn't fit the story at all.

Role-playing Is like Sand by the Sea. Good that with the King'S Way-Kingsway-a fresh Gust wafting through the World of Knights and Dragons. The whole Game comes from the Look Like an old Operating system of a well-known Redmond manufacturer. Both the World Map, the Character screen or the Inventory are presented in handy Windows. Still quite clear at the Beginning, with the Playing Time the Hustle and bustle increases when several Opponents put the Player. This hustle and bustle is intentional And offers a completely different approach than in many other Role-playing games. Not least because of its narrow Price, Kingsway is highly recommended. Interesting Premise, annoying Execution.
The Idea Of building a Role-playing game like a Windows System is really interesting and offers a lot of Potential, which is unfortunately not fully exploited by the fact that the Size of the Windows cannot be fully exploited.
The Crux for me, though, is the Fights. The Windows of all Enemies are constantly moving back and forth, but for each Attack or Block a small Button must be clicked (time-sensitive). Stronger Opponents spamen the Screen full of Pop-Ups and more than one Fight is lost because in the desperate Attempt to evade a special Attack, the inventory or status window is brought to the Fore and the View of the still taking place fight Blocked.
Conclusion: Interesting Idea that quickly degenerates into a Troublesome Gimmick.

I like the Idea and the Combat System cleverly exploits the whole Window story. But Scope and Execution are at a very low Level.
The whole perma death Thing is completely superfluous. The "random Card" distributes the handful of POIs, but it doesn't get any more interesting, but it's the same Mobs, the same Quests, the same events every time. When You Devote, there are Points that you can use To unlock starting bonuses for the next Run-since you can only choose 1, you unlock a good Bonus and finish. Almost outrageously, I find unlocking keyboard Shortcuts. If you start like this, I would have liked to unlock a decent Storage System, but that would make sense.
And in a Game whose Main Gimmick is the Interface, it would have been essential for the Windows to store their Position between sessions! Instead, 4-6 Windows must be rearranged at each Start. And Inventory Management loosely takes up! 3 of the Game Time, the Fun is limited to Say the least.
The main problem of this game is its price. It’s too expensive for that amount of content it offers you. I completed the game in 3 hours and I feel the lack of missions and quests. Maybe, it won’t be so disappointing if you buy it on sale.
If you like old school RPGs like Undertale you’ll love this one too. It’s light and very nostalgic. The story is not so deep like in modern AAA RPGs but still good for one or two playthroughs. I like the combat system, and how it’s combined with the other stuff like exploring, looting and trading. Kingsway doesn’t offer you much but it’s a nice way to spend several hours.
