Knytt Underground reviews

In summary: niche game, probably well done in terms of mechanics but rather to reserve the aficionados of the platform. In a slightly more developed way, this game has pretty backgrounds and its soundtrack is nice. The character is very precise in his jumps, but also very fast in his travels. However, this game gradually becomes a purge during Chapter 3. These are the same principles of resolution that apply constantly, which has made the game very painful over time, not counting the multiple trips back and forth. When I noticed the size of the map, I told myself that I had better things to do with my time than to continue to face the same kind of challenges to the very same. The little story that accompanies the game course is cute without being essential; It sometimes conveys personal opinions that resemble small moral lessons, which I hate even at low doses.

If one excepts the first two chapters that leave little gap to the exploration and the stripped down scenario of the game, underground Knytt makes the beautiful part to the real exploration-with an immense underground map that reveals itself as the progression-to from the third and larger chapister. Metroid way but deprived of any fight, all the difficulty of the title will rest mainly on the puzzle-platform; It should be noted that the character is particularly precise in his jumps, which makes the game particularly enjoyable to play. For lovers of exploration and platform afficionados (whose completion at 100% obliges the realization of the passages, optional and secret, the most corsed), skip next to this game alternating relaxing exploration-on the background of natural visuals elegant and dreamly-and acrobatic puzzles would be a shame. It should be noted that atmospheric music lends itself well and that mature and profound dialogues arise where they were not expected.

I loved Knytt underground for this call of the unknown that he manages to arouse in the player. We are catapulted into an immense, labyrinthine, incomprehensible world and at no time do we get tired of exploring it, especially thanks to the hypnotic variety of the beautiful backgrounds. What a joy to browse everywhere in the hope, seldom disappointed, to discover some secret passage that will lead us to a forgotten relic. Artistically, it's very beautiful. There are amazing and completely unexpected visual ideas! From a narrative point of view, it is another pair of sleeves. The game constantly Ricans on the shots expected by trampling them (fairy in the language ordurier, author staging to confess that its history is null but that is not what counts) without ever exceeding them to build something beautiful. We find ourselves with endless dialogues that go round and break the immersion by their Postmodernism unbalance. I ended up zapping the dialogues to fully appreciate the mysterious beauty of the game. Fortunately, the end of Knytt underground is very beautiful, leaving at length its Ethereal atmosphere in our mind. A beautiful game, highly recommended!
