About

After landing on Kraken IV, humanity set up a small colony in a remote area of the planet.  It was after their colony ship had already left, however, that they learned of the creatures that roam this world.  Attacked on all sides, you, the colony director, must build a fortified city to rival the alien threat and prepare for the great beast you see silhouetted against the horizon- the Leviathan.

Important Info: Please read!

Leviathan is still in development, and while a lot of the systems we aimed to add are in place, the game is not yet self-explanatory.  We plan to add tooltips and such in the future, but for now please read this brief section so you don't feel confused while playing.

Towers:  There are four towers currently implemented: Slum, Sniper, Gunner, and Drone.  These towers can be placed using the shop menu on the left.  Drag them onto an empty hexagon to place them.  Each tower can hit only certain kinds of enemies.  Ground enemies can be hit by the sniper, gunner, and slum tower, while flying enemies can be hit by the drone, sniper, and slum tower.   Ground enemies are purple, orange enemies are flying, and towers will have accents of those corresponding colors, if that helps to remember.  You can also upgrade the towers you place.  Hover your mouse over it to see the cost of upgrading, and click it to spend your hard earned credits to make it stronger.  You can upgrade a tower twice before it reaches its final form.

The goal of the game is to survive as long as possible.  You lose when the large, central tower is destroyed.  Enemies will attack towers in their path to the central tower, and your towers will attack the enemies back.  If a tower is destroyed, it leaves behind rubble (currently a red hexagon) that can't be built on for a time.

Every 10 waves the Leviathan comes.  During the rounds leading up to this, a red marker will show up on the corner of your screen.  This is the direction the Leviathan will approach from.  Build up your defenses in that direction in preparation!

Once you defeat the leviathan, you get a few bonuses.  Any rubble will be cleared, and surviving towers will heal to full health.  Good luck though, because the approach of the Leviathan has made your foes even stronger!

We'd like to hear from you!

We appreciate you playing our prototype and hope you enjoyed your time with it.  We'd love to hear any feedback you have, but if you are unsure we're specifically looking for some answers regarding the following questions:

1.) Is the process of building and upgrading a tower intuitive?  Do you have a good sense of the range of a tower?

2.) Besides a bit more information regarding the specifics of towers and upgrades, is there anything you feel would improve the user interface?

3.) How do you feel about the difficulty of the game?  We aimed for the prototype to have a rather high difficulty, as we wanted players to hit an end point (losing).  Compared to this, what sort of difficulty would you like to see in future versions (Easier, much easier, about the same, harder because I'm a masochist, etc.)?

4.) It's hard to tell (especially with some graphical glitches we're still running into), but each tower does subtly show its health.  Did you notice this fact, and if you did was the display useful?

Finally, if you encountered anything you think might be a bug during your time playing, we'd appreciate it if you let us know!
