Therapist Dr. Anna Atsuko and engineer Bill Pentecost have devoted their lives to their own, special invention - the MC-420, a machine that helps people remember long-forgotten happy memories, granting them some much-needed reprieve from the harshness of the world.

Soon after Anna begins using the new machine however, things start to go wrong - before long, she's not quite the same...
