Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons reviews

A Mercenary Force operates in a Conflict on several Planets, deploying Infantry Groups and Mechs. There are Skill Trees and the Ability to customize equipment. It's bitter because a Game of this Kind could spark enthusiasm with me if the Implementation was good. Unfortunately, the Game not only suffers from outdated Technology, but also has numerous Flaws. I had the Hope the Developers would have improved by now (Dec 15), but it is still hair-raising. Presentation, Control and Balancing are insufficient. There are a few good Approaches, but at best the Fine-tuning is missing. At Worst, the rough Implementation ruins all gameplay. The fact that one cannot save in normal Game Mode during the Missions is, in my Opinion, pure Chicanery, for example. While undercover missions or if you want to avoid losing special Units, the Stakes must play all over again. One of the greatest Pleasures of one's own people is to disregard the set Orders and to run silently into the Enemy. So are mechs. There is an Order of movement stopping in the short term, but does not enforce any of the "hold on." Cover can often not be allocated cleanly, whether your own People stand properly is a Matter Of happiness. This leads to the effect that when you are attacked in two Places at the same time, you have to carry your own Troops in both Places throughout, even if you have given them clear statements. And not because the Opponent would vary his Attacks-Friend and Foe have the IQ of a Toast. The Main Missions are ok from the Plant. The optional Inserts are simply grotesque. Even with Stakes with small Mission rewards, the Opponent spams squads without End. Especially like with four Rocket Launchers per Unit. While they run senselessly into the next best Defense, it's just annoying, especially since Defense Towers can be erected, but don't stand it. The "AI" apparently does not need To spend supply points for hundreds of Soldiers, the Pace of Spam remains unchanged when you take the Points off it. At the End of such Stakes, their own Six-man squads each have quite 100-200 Shots. That's way beyond what I've seen in the Campaign so far. Light Infantry Is completely useless. There are no decent Scouts, nor Snipers, nor The Possibility of seriously hiding or better dodging. Unarmored Forces are armed mies and die instantly. So most of The time you carry out Frontal Attacks with heavily armored Troops or defend yourself directly on a Landing Point where you can constantly order supplies. Losses are indifferent as long as Units are not wiped out altogether. In principle, Own Soldiers are never healed in this mercenary future, but are always made up by the Mother Ship.
