Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock reviews

I didn't think such a technically simple Point ' n ' click adventure could still be so exciting today. The Game is a polished Version of an earlier flash game and that's how it still feels. You really have (almost) only static Rendered images, a simple Inventory and interaction is limited to Clicking on Hotspots as well as pulling in the scene of Inventory objects. That Simplicity didn't bother me at all, though. I find The Graphics very successful. It is mostly static and overlaid with a few Real-time effects such as Fog. The Film Sequences also convinced me, they were great. The Sound also plays a very big Role. Both Music and Language contribute to a dense Atmosphere and turn the Game into an experience. The Story is ok, not sensational, but exciting enough. :) I find the Radio With which you can get tips from your Colleague at any time, if you can't get any further. I had to make Use of it in some Places. The Inventory, on the other hand, would have been designed differently. Since it occupies only a narrow Column, but there are relatively many Objects in it, you have to scroll around painstakingly again and again. A Full Screen Mode would have helped, especially if you want to combine objects in the Inventory. The Playing Time is rather short at 2 Hours, but fine for an indie project with a small Team.

Hello The Game makes me spontaneously think of a Visit to a Nobel Restaurant. Very nicely done, delicious, but clear portion ... A point & click in quite beautiful Rendering Graphics, which, however, seems a little lifeless, because rather static. For someone who thinks back to Myst with Horror and above sweats may get a Shortcoming. The Puzzles are kept quite simple (I personally only got stuck a bit in one Place, but after some Time came without a Solution (none gave yet). The Interaction Possibilities do not overload in time. As a result, the Game develops a certain Dynamic that benefits the Story. I felt the Sci-Fi setting refreshingly unusual, the Story quite spanking and well told. However, there could have been some additional Content clearing questions, exploring Secrets. (Enough for a Substitution) But that would only be the Dressing on the Salad, after all it is about Survival and Escape from the Planet, and that is quite well tasted. Dynamic Gameplay and Concentration on the Main Action strand as well as Avoiding unnecessary Paths result in the fact that the Game is over quite quickly. Very fast. In Fact, one of the shortest Games I've played (lt. Steam 3h). The Game is in English, which can be a deterrent for some, but the Speakers do not overlap and speak quite clearly and understandably. Conclusion: Nice to look at, beautiful Story, well told, delicious, but it should have been a bit more ... Who is aware of this and who may afford the Appetizers can long.
