One Use Spaceships
About
This is a prototype game, created for VR Jam 2022, with a single gameplay loop: Walk around on a planet (with simulated spherical gravity, so you can actually walk "around" each planet in about 30 seconds!), find a broken-down ship, fly to the next planet, and repeat 5 times. Do that as fast as you can. Time is tracked on your left wrist, and the number of planets visited is tracked on your right wrist.
It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete each run of the time trial. You must remember which planets you have already visited, otherwise it will take longer.
Set your expectations: this was created for a Game Jam, so it is a prototype of a single gameplay loop. I know the lighting, textures, fog, and many other things need lots of polish. Also, this is basically a single level Time Trial, so re-playability is limited, but it is a tech demo of the core gameplay mechanic.
Works with PC VR on Windows, tested with Quest 2 via Air Link and Valve Index with Index Controllers. It may work with Vive wands (using the touchpad in place of thumb sticks), but I could not test that. It uses OpenXR, so it will use the default OpenXR runtime on your system (either Oculus or SteamVR or something else). All the assets are low-poly, so it should run on low-end VR-capable PCs. I did not have the time to get a native Quest 2 port working, and I did not have the time to get teleport working (so smooth locomotion is the only option, sorry about that!).
