Review to Overfall Overfall is a more unknown Game that has it all. It combines Elements of RPG, Round-based combat, Adventure and Rogue-like. Some find the art style of this Game ugly, others fascinate just that to take a second Look at it. I, too, felt the same way at the Beginning. Again and again I stumbled across the Shop page, was kind of impressed by the unique Drawing Style but since it is only available in English and not in German, I was very skeptical. Even Youtube could not help me much, because this Game is rather unknown and also not much useful on Youtube could be found.
When it was available in the Sale for-40%, I just struck and worked my way into the Matter. Yes! After all, the Game has it all.
In the Beginning, you select 2 Characters to start the Adventure with. You sail on a small Ship over a Map where loud little Islands are with different Factions on it that you can all head to. In addition to one, other Ships also sail around (Merchants, Adventure ships or Pirates). It's all Randomly Generated and you never know what happens once you enter an Island. There can be Rewards waiting, Quests, Fights or just nothing.
As ulcig as it may look at the Start, however, there is a very sophisticated Combat System behind it.
The Fight takes place on a Kind of Hex Field and is divided into 3 phase round.
Phase 1: Movement, 2nd Phase: Buffs/Debuffs, 3rd Phase: Action/attack.
There is an immensely long List of Buffs and Debuffs, abilities, Etc., so there are quite a few things to consider. When you're not paying attention, you can quickly see the Radishes growing from below;)
As usual in a good rogue like, there are all sorts of Things to unlock here: Skills, Weapons, Amulets, classes, companions that you can hire, Enchantments etc ... In total, you start with 2 Characters and can top up to 4 during the Game (the 2 additional ones are not permanent, only until Death). Should one of the two Main Characters bless the Temporal, he can be revived at an Altar. If Both die, the Game is over and a Score is created and what you have unlocked. After that, you start all over again.
The Aim of the Game is To make friends of one of the Factions (but you are hostile to the Counter-faction) by doing Quests for them or by winning Battles against the Counter-faction. What exactly happens, when this Faction is friendly and the Bar you have full, I don't know myself yet---> my Contra! Should anyone know that, they can happily add to that in the Comments:)
THE usual Art Style generates all Random, does not get so quickly boring Well thought-out combat System Steam successes running fleeting without Bugs or similar Price IS full OK-even at Full Price CONTRA * not in German no introductory/Tutorial, you have to yourself " Work in "and also find out the Goal of the Game for the first Time, who likes to find challenging games with a Undeni-based Combat System and not shy Away from Perma Death, I can recommend this little Gem.
