Pulstar reviews

If the gameplay is at the center of the game and the developers get rid of the useless, the whole thing is pretty nicely wrapped. The music is pleasant to the ear – even if they can become energizing after extended hours of play – and the overall aesthetic of the game is rather successful. It's nice and fun to watch, it's the rest when countless enemies invade the screen and it explodes everywhere with a lot of Nice effects. The enemies are not of great originality but they are successful and that is all they are asked. Unfortunately, it is a bit messy and visibility is sometimes sacrificed to the benefit of the general atmosphere and Visual effects. Indeed, it happens to some enemies to become almost invisible in some places of the arena, posing obvious problems at the level of the game. Likewise, it can be difficult to recognize the objects you collect, the improvements of weapons, scoring multipliers and bombs resembling more or less, the three being more or less brilliant spheres that can certainly be differentiated by making attention to detail, but in the heat of the action it is not always easy. Likewise, due to too much wanting to return to the base and simplify, Pulstar lacks a little content. Only one arena is available and one weapon-which certainly changes a little over the course of improvements, but not so much-is to be used against the only three enemies that will attack you. Two game modes are available: solo and multiplayer. The multiplayer comes down to a local game, splitting the screen in half to allow you to play with a friend at the same as the classic game, the rankings being of course different (it's quite nice to enter the ranking with a team name rather than the nicks of a player (s)). And that's it. If this allows to better control the game by force to redo the same thing all the time and thus to increase its ranking, it's a bit cheapskate and the game is renewed very little. Certainly it is inherent to the genre, but a variety in arenas or a little customization of our star (I would have liked to play a star with flashy colors in this world very blue/purple) would not have been too much. Likewise, it would have been quite nice to be able to enjoy the game in co-operation online. Sold at five euros, Pulstar is a little unpretentious game that does not invent or reinvent anything, but remains very friendly. In my opinion, he can go to two kinds of audiences: players looking for a game to play quickly without taking the lead and those looking for the best score (or successes) that will play relentlessly until fully mastering the game. It is nothing that we have not seen dozens of times, it remains less complete and aesthetically less worked than most of the Geometry Wars, but it's pretty, it can be addictive and we spend a good time. And then, successes asking for something other than just advancing in history or looking for fifty hidden objects in the game, it's pretty nice.
