QUAKE II Mission Pack: The Reckoning reviews

This expansion of Quake 2 leaves a somewhat annoying and particular experience with respect to Ground Zero or the original game campaign... The first and positive thing is that we have new weapons like a gun that shoots laser beams bouncing on the walls or a cannon that fires two rockets at a time. As enemies We have a new type of mutant, a small robot that shoots laser beams and several enemies of the original Quake 2 that now have as added a barrier that absorbs a lot of damage before breaking it and THIS is the fat point against that ruins the Gameplay completely of this DLC. I explain: This green barrier is absurdly unbalanced and try to kill an enemy that has you consume almost half of any weapon forcing to rushear from the middle of the expansion, this would not be a point against if at least there would be much Ammunition scattered by the levels to compensate but no, you get more profitable to spend from them and keep running. Another point against it is the final boss, which is exactly the same as the original Quake 2 campaign. If you really want to enjoy a better expansion I recommend you try Ground Zero that for me has the most balanced gameplay and a completely new final boss. Personal game Score: 7.75 ★ ★ ★

I played the Sourceport version, which is why I have less than an hour of PRO play: good level design, the levels seem better interlaced, and doing back and forth to unlock doors with special keys is less heavy Is a more of the same as Quake 2 , they could not go wrong AGAINST: everything else. The Additions are not great: Weapons: They give you a double rocket launcher that does only slightly more damage than the original, a machine gun with bouncing bullets at very low rate of fire, the traps of Ghostbusters to capture enemies (no kidding) and Recover life (but if you get sucked you die as well). Rejected. Enemies: Those Army Men's goddamn were equipped with lasers and suddenly they are world champions of target shooting. You just enter their field of vision, no matter how far you are, to see first a blunder and then death in a few moments. Also The new Beta Gladiator are just sponges, boring to deal with. Enemy Placement: You enter a room, you find yourself an enemy with many HP in the middle, soldiers behind the crates where to repair, snipers at the top, and as you entered you also opened a tunnel in the previous room, with a guy who can not wait to make the holidays. These situations are repeated throughout the second half of the game, where the developers throw all of it at you. It seems an insult to the enemy placement of the original game. Avoid it.
