Red Matter by Vertical Robot is a gorgeous storie-based sci-fi evening Fee-hard. The former Exclusive Title for the Oculus Rift is now finally available for all other PC glasses and nothing stands in The way of a Trip to Saturn's second-largest moon Rhea. We are in the Role of Secret Service agent Epsilon, who will be sent to an abandoned Soviet Mine/research facility on this very Moon. Our Job now is to get confidential Research Information from our Opponent. A Kind of Cold War between the two Superpowers, the Atlantic Union and the People's Republic of Volgravia, forms the Background for the truly interesting and mysterious History. As expected, the Mission is doomed from the Start. It starts with the fact that we plunge uncontrollably into the Surface in our Landing Pod. Our Equipment is initially defective and when reaching the Plant everything becomes even more mysterious ... Red Matter knows how to build an Immersion feeling very quickly, already the Implementation of the Controllers is awesome. Instead of our bare Hands, we have two Tools in the Gloves that look startlingly similar to our Controller. Depending on Demand, we can change the Appearance and Usefulness of the Devices, such as activating an extremely practical scanner that translates, among other things, the volgravic Language and displays the Result on a folding screen. The Type of Movement, in turn, is perfectly attuned to the Game. In Rhea, of course, there are very different Gravitational Ratios than on Earth, so Agent Epsilon naturally has a special Spacesuit. By default, it allows us to float to a new Location with the Help of the engines on our Shoes. We can control the Speed. Alternatively, we could run slowly on the Ground. The other Attraction is evident, for example, when we throw away Objects. These fall much slower than we are used to From Earth to the Ground. This Effect gives good the Feeling of being in a completely foreign Place. As is customary for an Adventure game, our Agent can of course interact with almost all Items. We read Paper notes, look at Photos, scroll through Diaries, etc. So we learn more and more about the Employees of the now abandoned Facility and thus gradually learn the mysterious Backgrounds around the eerie Red Substance. The Puzzles we encounter in Red Matter are versatile and naturally become trickier and trickier as the Game progresses, one time or another I had to look for a Solution on the Net. Graphically, Red Matter is a little Eye-catcher. From the Environment to the Player to the Objects we interact with, everything is of high Quality. In the Settings you can still optimize the Graphics a bit, but even in the lowest Settings, Red Matter still looks good. If you Put everything on Optimum it's gorgeous. The Environment in which we stand after Landing on Rhea is breathtaking. We have a fanrastic View of majestic Saturn there. The Sound Design in Red Matter has Also been very successful. We get feedback, so to speak, from everything we interact with. The Music builds Drama at the right Moments, so manages to bring a creepy, abandoned Station to Life in the best possible Way. Red Matter is an excellent Example of how a Story can be told in a great Setting with little Action but a lot of Head-scratching. Only the Length casts a small Shadow over this excellent Adventure.
