I am playing this game since 2003 and can say without any doubt, it is the best RTS Game ever. There is a perfect mix of
technological research, commerce, diplomacy, military power and espionage. It is really hard to describe but every game I played in multiplayer had a difference excitement. For example, sometimes you have not enough power and the enemy is taking big advantage of a worldwonder and you are not able to destroy that. You still can use spies to destroy that worldwonder. Suddenly with that really small move, the game turns totally vice versa. This kind of situation makes the game unique :).
p.s.: I am in steam several years now, and the main reason why I am here is Rise of Nations. And it is my first review in steam after so many years on steam. :)

This game is just excellent.
Of course he accuses his years graphically, but the gameplay is just perfectly balanced between management and strategy. The diversity of factions, with their specific units, allows a very wide rejouablity. Skirmish modes, single or multiplayer campaigns and full control of game settings (maps, geography, victory conditions, playing time, technological levels, eras, etc...) really extend the possibilities. There are so many possible that you can just as much relax parts of 30min or live parts of 10h!!
We come back to play with a huge pleasure. It's a really successful game that everyone should have in his library, a classic of the genre, and a quality classic.

Very good RTS.
You are advancing through the ages. Move from a unit armed with a spear stone to the good old flamethrower.
You're fighting on land, at sea, in the air.
Short... a lot of content and that: that's good.
The problem comes with the missiles and the AI: indeed, once the AI has access to these famous missiles, they spam them... and there it becomes very boring/heavy.
Certainly! THE AI... is c * * * * *. So despite these missiles, it is possible to win.
But when you see it you shoot 15 missiles per minute... There is still a problem.
Especially if we take into account the cost of the missile.
So certainly... There is a technology that allows to be protected from missiles and so it is possible not to suffer the madness of the AI... but not in campaign mode.
Now the missiles wouldn't be so problematical as that in normal times.
As a player vs player, this would not pose a problem.
But the AI, it, is able to know at every moment where are your production buildings and target them without even taking the trouble to look for them before...
What if we combine the two problems?
Well, it's very difficult to produce units for the simple reason that AI is still targeting your production buildings with missiles.
Conclusion: a limitation on the number of missiles fired at the minute would be interesting.
