About
This is a gameplay prototype used to iron out gameplay/control issues before attemping an original game. I hope to keep some of the design from the first two Mega Man X games (SNES), but make some fundamental changes. The sprites and music are the property of Capcom, so this will always be free. (Capcom seems permissive regarding fangames)
MacOS only for now. Linux and WebGL support to follow. Eventually will support Windows.
Mouse+Keyboard and Gamepads will be supported.
Design elements to keep:
- special case inertia
- dash feels good
- wall jump
- wall slide
- charge weapon
- bosses
- collect weapons from defeated bosses
- destroying enemies is satisfying
- safety timer after taking damage
Design changes:
- only shoot forward -> aiming
- teleportation -> airdrop from chopper
- character/robot styles
- camera view size changes
- camera movement follows aim (optional)
- projectiles collide with walls lighting,
- normal mapped sprites, emissive
- arbitrary ground and wall angles
- no instant-death spikes or bottomless pits
- AI, navigation mesh
