SCP: Retrieval
About
In SCP: Retrieval, the year is 1983, and the Appalachian region is in chaos. After a series of coordinated attacks by the Serpent's Hand on key SCP Foundation sites, many dangerous anomalies have escaped containment, and are currently wreaking havoc in the surrounding areas. As a Mobile Task Force (MTF) unit, your mission is to locate, contain, and recover the escaped anomalies before they can cause any more destruction.
Up to five players can join forces, working as a team of MTF operators tasked with hunting down and neutralizing SCPs—some of the most dangerous paranormal creatures in existence. But beware: many of these anomalies are far more dangerous than expected, and one wrong move could be your last.
Key Features
Co-op Multiplayer: Play with up to 5 friends in peer-to-peer multiplayer. Operate as a specialized MTF squad, where teamwork and communication are the keys to survival.
Positional Voice Chat: Immerse yourself in the intense gameplay with positional voice chat. Communication becomes more challenging as distance from your teammates increases. Plan and coordinate your strategies carefully, but remember—anomalies can hear you too. The game also includes a push-to-talk feature for tactical communication.
MTF-Themed Tactical Gameplay: Use professional MTF equipment and techniques to locate, contain, and retrieve anomalies. The design encourages tactical thinking and coordinated action between players to survive and complete missions successfully.
Gameplay
MTF Tools & Equipment
As part of the elite MTF, players have access to a range of tools designed to help track down and contain anomalies:
Bodycam/Map System: At the spawn location of every map, players can access the MTF van, which contains a specialized monitoring system. The left screen displays bodycam feeds from squadmates, allowing you to track their positions in real time, while the right screen shows a map divided into sectors. Sectors flash red when anomalous activity is detected.
Kant Counter: On the ground, MTF units can use the Kant Counter, an anomaly detection tool. This device emits an audible alarm that grows more intense as players approach an SCP, allowing for precise tracking in the field.
Inventory System
Your MTF squad is outfitted with a variety of gear to assist in containing SCPs:
Weapons: Equip firearms capable of neutralizing or killing mortal SCPs. Ammunition is limited, so strategic use is vital.
Flashbangs: Temporarily stun certain SCPs, giving your team a chance to escape or contain them.
Noisemaker: Attract SCPs to a specific location with a noisemaker, creating an opportunity to set up traps or evade detection.
Special Equipment: The Kant Counter, alongside other gear, is essential for successfully locating and engaging SCPs.
More equipment is coming to the game in later stages of development!
SCPs to Contain
The game currently features 15 SCPs, each with their own terrifying abilities and containment challenges. Some of the most infamous include:
SCP-173: The deadly statue that moves only when not observed. Keep it in sight, or it will eliminate you in the blink of an eye.
SCP-096: A tall, pale humanoid. While normally docile, if you see its face, it will relentlessly hunt you down. Avoid direct visual contact at all costs.
SCP-939: A blind predator with very keen hearing and the ability to mimic human voices, making stealth essential. Move quietly, or risk being hunted down by the pack.
SCP-106: A relentless hunter that emerges from the ground to track and eliminate injured players.
Lots of other SCPs lurk in the game, waiting to be discovered by daring players. Each one brings its own unique challenge.
Missions
Alongside endless mode, SCP: Retrieval features story-driven missions, not always necessarily MTF-themed, each presenting its own narrative and objective. Here are some work-in-progress missions:
Incident 096-1-A: Set on a remote mountain farm, the team must retrieve photos of SCP-096 scattered around the area without looking at its face. Once collected, players must contain 096 once again.
Operation 058-25-B: Infiltrate a Chaos Insurgency camp to retrieve SCP-058 and extract it safely back to the Foundation. Stealth and teamwork are critical in this highly dangerous mission.
Don't Blink: Play as scientists trapped in a claustrophobic lab with SCP-173. Coordinate with teammates to find a way to escape without ever breaking eye contact. Don't blink.
Each mission is designed with creativity and tactical challenges, ensuring that no two operations feel the same. Story missions offer variety and immersive objectives, while endless mode delivers replayable, dynamic encounters with random SCPs.
Maps
Currently, the game includes three unique maps designed for endless mode:
Hunting Camp: A dense, dark forest in the Appalachians, where danger lurks in the shadows. The night offers limited visibility, making it difficult to spot approaching SCPs.
Abandoned Facility: An SCP site devastated by a containment breach. Navigate the ruined hallways and dark corners where anomalies roam.
Evacuated Metro Station: An underground metro station, abandoned and filled with SCP threats. The dimly lit environment makes every corner dangerous.
Additional maps will be released as part of story missions, each tailored to the narrative and the SCP being contained.
Join the mission and become part of the MTF squad responsible for the most dangerous retrieval operations in the Foundation’s history!
