About

Secret World Legends is a reboot of the 2012 MMO game The Secret World. Unlike the original game, the reboot is free-to-play.

Setting

The game is set in a low fantasy world that was inspired by the works of horror authors like Stephen King and Howard Lovecraft, as well as Indiana Jones movie series. The setting combines the background of our real world with elements of mythology, urban legends and conspiracy theories that became true. The locations in the game include real-world cities as well as fictional places. They are mostly set in the big urban areas, depicted as dark, gloomy places fit for gothic stories.

Plot

The players' characters receive magical powers and learn that the End of Days is at hand. They have to participate in a war against evil and fight demons, vampires, and other monsters, as well as dark cultists who worship evil gods. They are forced to join one of the three main factions in the game: the Illuminati, the Templars, or the Dragon. They will have to travel to many places, such as Transylvania and Egypt, and even back in time.

Gameplay

The player can choose the first person or third person view. There are no character classes, and the player can freely change the character's abilities during the game. The player can also obtain a new weapon, but it costs either a microtransaction or an amount of in-game money.

Secret World Legends reviews and comments

Translated by

Steam Ratings: ohhh these were all good! And here we make the Entrance directly, the Game "Secret World Legends" (= swl) can also be called "The Secret World 2" (= Tsw). All Reviews between 2013 and Summer 2017 are attributable to TSW alone, SWL was only releast in Juni/July. I will keep coming back to comparing both Games in my Assessment as there are "minimal" Differences. Story and Quest: The Story is the same between TSW and SWL, with the exception OF a few minor Changes EXAKT. Nevertheless, it is still the greatest Strength of this Game, almost all Quest Can be repeated-in TSW-REPEATED/in SWL must be repeated. The Quest Are spanned creepy, never boring and surrounded by its own Atmosphere. Many Video Sequences offer ideal Casual times to take great Screenshots. Gameplay: The Gameplay is and remains unique. However, there are the biggest Differences between wl and tsw. TSW: The Kräfterad has overwhelmed a lot of Players, but with some Explanation and a Winding, it's the hottest thing about the Game. On any Opponent, you can put together great Decks with Skills and plumb the Game in a deep one, which hardly managed another Game. The Combat was a Mix of Action with tab targeting. SWL: First major Innovation, Kräfterad Gone, Tab targeting away. All Forces have been cut together and simplified greatly, so that it does not become too complex and every Hans sausage understands this. In short, what TSW made UP was actually removed and made into 0815. Graphics and Sound: Visually, the Game makes a lot of DIFFERENCE, all to the Stand of TSW. The Sound is atmospheric and appropriate, I personally never found it annoying. The Game is not fully available in German. About to Middle of the Carparths will be Audio in English with German Subtitles. -> No Improvements in SWL Performance: While bad in TSW, SWL didn't get any better ... One of the biggest Minuses in the Game, without a good Calculator you won't be able to go raid. The grind is real ...: TSW: YOU bought individual DLC in the Game-if there was a new ONE after 5 Months. In addition, there were event bags (Loot boxes) and a lot of Fashion to buy in the Gold Shop for events. There were no Microtransactions. SWL: Here we have everything you can have in the current Nonsense. Microtransactions, Loot Boxes, daily Keys, subscription models to have In-game premium status and so on. In addition, you can now undergo a daily 1-2h Grind. Dungeon Loot is inappropriate, higher difficulty meetings don't give much better Loot Boxes. But yes is for the great Gaming Experience ... Communtiy: Probably one of the Nicest you can meet like that, but again there are black Sheep, the two CM go To great lengths and have succeeded with it. Top! View: I think that the TSW Servers will be switched off soon, on the one hand it is complicated to get to the Client, on the other Hand, you are alone on the Server. The SWL Client had overwritten ALL existing TSW clients. SWL is a Shot in the Oven for me and won't make himself the Underdog like TSW was. Not with the Grind, not with all the Microtransactions ... Thank you EA. I played TSW for a very long time (3Annual/Endgame, 2 world-first-kills) that no new Content came along made the Game really very boring. The Announcement on SWL, was Relief and Death Sentence at the same time. SWL could hold me for just 1.5 Months. Should I really grin the same Content I picked 3 Years earlier??? No thanks...
