Completed as of writing this review: Base Game with some optional things
The Metroidvania genre returns to Shantae once again! After what Half-Genie Hero had to offer, I was really hoping to get on board with this game. However, it did unfortunately have some setbacks.
The mechanics are fine, really solid level design that is strongly expanded upon the abilities you get in the game. But I also felt this would be too much of a hassle to fully complete, as the world of this game is too big for my liking, so I decided to not 100% the save slot like I usually do in Shantae games. The music, as being composed not by Jake "Audio Guy" Kaufman, was also very forgivable, sadly. The other nitpick I have is the art style, which feels like it's all over the place. Yet another style change 5th time in a row for dialogue art. It looks good, but initially felt clashed with the 1/2 Hero sprites. The cutscenes were also fine, although felt unnecessary.
Anyway, the game is okay and I would suggest Shantae fans check it out. Maybe you will enjoy it more than I did, I dunno.
