A game made as a final assignment for the game design certificate of SAE Athens.
Earth froze several centuries ago.Humanity survived and was rebuilt based on the poems of Edda.
Poems that spoke of Viking Gods and ancient wars.
Still, chaos is taking over.
The elders speak of a man, the chosen one that will lead us to order.
We finally found him, a humble forester.
We must protect him with our lives. About
Shieldmaiden is a challenging top down hack n' slash game
to play, preferably, with a friend!
Play as one of the shieldmaiden sisters and protect Harald, the chosen one,
against hordes of enemies that want him dead.
- Fast paced, full of action gameplay!
- Two, poles apart in gameplay style, characters to play as!
- Different kinds of enemies!
- Procedural snowy levels!

- A challenge that pushes your cooperation skills to their limits!
Thyra, the youngest sister, moves around the battlefield like the wind, slashes anything that stands in her way. Deflects bullets, parries attacks and returns them twice-fold!
Sigrid, the oldest one, is not as hot headed, strategy is her way of battle. She uses her shield to block any attack and push back the enemy, creating space for her devastating sword to destroy the threat.
The challenge- Keep in mind that if Harald dies it's game over.
- You cannot die, thus be sure your split-second decisions are of value.
Slash your way to safety or stand in the way of swords and bullets? - Command Harald, as he knows nothing of battle.
Should he follow you or rush to your friend?
Run for his life or stay patiently in place ? - Strategize and plan using the strengths of each shieldmaiden, to trick and destroy your enemies.
- Use your blessing to aid your friend in battle, communicate and cooperate because every second counts!

This game was made, as stated above, as a final assignment for a Game Design Certificate.
It's currently at a very early stage in development, it serves mostly as a prototype.
I'm planning to release it fully at around Q2 of 2023.
I've worked on it for approximately 200 hours in the last two months and decided to release it publicly for testing and feedback purposes.
You will find a button in the main menu of the game that takes you to a questionnaire form.
I'd appreciate it a lot if you take the time to fill it out!
