Sokoban Land DX
About
The Sokoban Land needs your help.
Someone came by and made a big mess!
Now only someone with a brave heart (and an organizer soul) will be able to put everything in place and open the gates for everyone to walk there freely again.
This game is based on the classic Sokoban (Push Box), a puzzle style game in which the player must push boxes to places defined on the levels.
This game is for everyone!
But, it was especially designed for fathers and mothers have some time playing with their sons and daughters. For spend some time relaxing and playing with your girlfriend or boyfriend. To call your friend to come to your house and spend some time solving puzzles together. Or just for you, to spend some time relaxing and training your thinking while having some fun.
Tips:
- You can move only one box at a time;
- The boxes can be moved by pushing them (they can't be pulled);
- You can undo only the last move of each character;
- When all the boxes are in the appropriate places, the gate will open, so you have to cross it to go to the next level (be careful to not to get "stuck");
If you have difficulty in overcoming some level, you can ask for help from a friend next to you to help in the adventure using the cooperative two-player mode. You can choose to play alone or with one other person at the beginning of the game (and choose which character you want to play) or you can add/remove a second player at any time, while playing any stage of the game.
If you don't have someone to ask for helping you or even if you want to play alone and never played Sokoban before, don't worry, the first levels were made thinking of you. They are not so hard and will help you to get used to the features of the game.
If you are "the one" in Sokoban games, the most advanced stages should represent a good challenge for you. And if you want an extra challenge, a tip is to play with the two characters at the same time. With your left hand you control the player 1 and right hand controls the player 2 (If using a gamepad, the left stick controls the player 1 and the right analog stick controls the player 2). The game will be pretty fun, challenging and in addition, you can finish the levels in a shorter time.
Main features:
+ It's easy to learn to play;
+ 100 levels and 5 different worlds;
+ Single player game mode or two players in local cooperative mode;
+ It can be played in alone controlling the two characters at the same time;
+ Undo button for the last performed movement;
+ Calm and pleasant sound tracks;
+ Gamepad support: Built and tested with Xbox 360 Controller (can be played with keyboard);

I have spent thousands of hours on various Sokoban games since the DOS version of the first in the years 80. Many authors have published their levels on the Internet over time. There are more than 38 000 on http://www.sourcecode.se/sokoban/levels for example. I am far from having them all, but I have certainly solved a good thousand. There are free programs like Sokoban YASC (https://sourceforge.net/projects/sokobanyasc/) that offer options galore (infinite redo, position backup, record by number of pushes or movements, Solver, problem Editor... ). To offer a paid version must therefore bring a plus. Is Sokoban land DX coming?
I'm not going to let you simmer for long.
Sokoban land DX is a regression that offers in addition to levels without any interest. I will however try to find him some positives: + graphics (cute, colorful) suitable for young children. It is the only audience that can find a slight value to the hyper-easy problems offered.
+ I have not encountered any bugs.
+ Animations (rain, cloud, Thunder, mushrooms that are gigoting...) that will delight young children.
I could add 2 other assets, but as the developers were unable to exploit them, I prefer to put them in neutral: = be able to play co-op, but here it only simplifies levels already far too elementary. There should be a pack of levels that could only be solved by using the two characters (even solo).
= The character must exit the level through the portal in order to validate this one. So do not get caught in an area where the gate is no longer accessible. When all the crates are on their pitches, they can no longer be moved. This could have brought new challenges, but I repeat that it has not been exploited. To get caught, you really have to do it on purpose.
Writing hours about the flaws of this Sokoban land DX will not serve much. I will just report a handful:-levels far too easy. Even the last one (the 100th) is childish.
-Some tables resemble (very simplified versions) to known problems. The 19th, for example, is a pale copy of the first level of the original Sokoban.
-No record backup by number of moves or pushes.
-A redo limited only to the previous action.
-The latest steam success: play for 5 hours. By taking notes and watching TV at the same time, I had finished the game well before this time. So I let the program turn to arrive at 5 hours of play. However, I had a good wait for success did not happen. In fact, only the time spent resolving the levels (not the time on the menus or the ancillary screens) should be counted.
-No button to close the application. I was using the ALT-F4 to quit the program.
-The price (€9) seems to me totally disproportionate.
In conclusion, if you want to play Sokoban, I would advise against this one. The rigour of young children will find it a small interest. Instead, look for a free Sokoban if you want to discover this type of game.
