Space Aces
About
Space Aces is a video game made for the spring 2022 offering of CAP 4053 at UCF. The player controls a space fighter capable of movement in 3 directions and rotation in 3 directions. The game supports any controller, keyboard, and the Thrustmaster 1600M flight stick.
The game has 3 levels where you will fly a spaceship around a 3d space attempting to shoot down your enemies before they can do the same for you. In space, there is nothing to slow you down, so you will have to do your best to utilize your momentum to your advantage. It can be a challenge to control a spaceship in a dogfight, but that's part of the fun! Fly through asteroid fields avoiding enemy attacks as you get your sights on target and take down your enemies.
The game features unique music in each level, with titles and attributions on the credits screen.
Joystick Controls: trigger shoot, hat switch heave and sway strafing, center thumb button toggle Flight Assist, left thumb button thrust forward, right thumb button thrust backward, joystick left/right axis roll, joystick up/down axis pitch, joystick twist axis yaw
Controller controls: right trigger shoot, left stick has yaw and pitch, right stick has roll and heave, left bumper is backwards thrust, right bumper is forwards thrust, south face button is toggle flight assist
keyboard controls: See diagram above. qweasd are translational axes and uiojkl are rotational axes. left shift is toggle flight assit, and space bar is shoot.
There is no pause menu. We had last minute issues getting it to work. If you cant beat the game, and you get stuck on a level, you'll have to alt f4 the game.

System requirements for PC
Minimum:
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: 20H2
- Processor: i5-8400
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: 1070TI
- Storage: 2 GB available space
- Sound Card: Integrated
- Additional Notes: These are my specs, but it will probably run on lesser equipment. One time, Austin ran the game on a laptop without a dedicated graphics card, and another time I downloaded the itch distribution and was able to run it on a work computer that is very old and has no dedicated graphics card. I don't have the resources to find out more.
