Space Race - A decent assignment I did

Space Race is a small, 640x480, low-res, 2d, top-down, high-action space shooter in which you rebel against a totalitarian government. I made this project originally for a media class' assignment, but it started turning out way better than I originally thought.

Plot Synposis

You play as a space pirate who rebels against the totalitarian "Royal Space Fleet" who rules over the starts with the help of their mysterious "Benefactors". Throughout the game, you will travel across star systems, wormhole tunnels and computer AIs to disband and destroy the Fleet.

Gameplay

This game is controlled using a mouse and a mouse only. Fast clicking and hand movements are required througout the game to effectively dodge enemy fire and eliminate bosses.

There also plentiful bonus menus, secrets and other goodies.
