About

Spate is a surreal experience set in a world that seeks to draw the player into its reality. Spate is a dark, brooding, and beautifully crafted emotional journey that is seen through the eyes of a struggling addict. Created by former Disney & Jim Henson artist Eric Provan, this artistic game is a story about one man's struggle and descent into madness. Fueled by absinthe hallucinations and haunting memories, Spate delivers a deliciously eerie adventure as the main character deals with the tragic loss and grim reality of the death of his daughter.

        Spate reviews and comments

The Game is struggling to be similar to Dear Ester and similar to her, and it turns out very coryavo. Dear Esther-The first on my memory inra in the genre of "interactive story" (in any case, the trend went from it), and play/pass it was quite pleasant and convenient. Here, the contemplative gameplay is complemented by arcade platformer, and although the game lasts only 1.5 hours, the absolute game-design squalor is only compounded by the unhurried rhythm of the narrative and the brakes of the engine. The Impression in general remained quite smooth. The Plot again can not but cause me to compare with Dear Ester: Similar music, the same structural construction (rock climbing-dungeon-return to the surface-climbing the tower-death/redemption), and like a narrator of the same called. Stylistically It turns out some kind of a mixer-here you and Stimipunk, here Noir, here surrealism. The First does not have anything to do with the story, but the noir turned out very successful, and alcoholism in the subject:) Sur, also with these buggy special effects, only loads the engine of honor in vain. Overall taste and color. And no more than one time.

So, we play for a drunk detective who investigates the case of a missing businessman and comes to an incomprehensible X-zone, where thousands of people disappear. Understandably, nobody is interested in these thousands of people, it is interesting specifically this businessman, and figuring out what is happening inside-it's a bonus. The idea. The Detective left his wife, his daughter disappeared, which is considered dead. Detective is a detective who was waiting for the case with a businessman, despite the fact that he has a warm hope to find in the X-zone and his daughter. He's more of a detective because he thinks all the crap on the screen is the fruit of his drunken fantasies. I, meanwhile, absolutely beating it or not, but the creators of the game for some reason stuck in the game frequent outages of the main character of the game, which do not affect anything. In General I like games with crazy design and twists, but in this game there is nothing but this. All this nonsense on the screen exists only for the sake of delirium. It's totally pointless. The game has booze. You can kick out of a bottomless bottle about once in 10-15 seconds. What does this affect? You start once in 3 above to jump and run a little faster, the screen begins to dissolve, on the background may appear some objects that were not, but they are absolutely meaningless and for the game is not important. Sometimes all around you turn at 30-45 degrees that clockwise, then against. In General, this is all that is in this game. You are stupid run and jump, solve 1-2 puzzles for the whole game, fly on the device pressing and pressing the time button "space". Soundtrack? In the video to this page, you can say you've heard it all. Plot? Absolutely uninteresting. The main character of the game is a monotonous voice you rub about his wife, who lost/died daughter, about his drink. Along the way you will meet a half character, which almost nothing for you mean. So in half an hour of the game I began to wonder whether the game will be over soon. Yes, the creators of the game drew something cool. Yes, it looks wonderful. But All this is of no value. Fantasy for the sake of fantasy, delirium for the sake of delirium, that just was, and everything was based on it. Given all of the above, I can't recommend this game. It is boring and does not even draw on a full-fledged game, nor on any designed creative project (passing, by the way, in an hour and a half).
