The Next Stage
About
An RTS style game where characters are designed via an artificial-selection process.
"The Next Stage" uses a simple genetic algorithm to generate characters, by manipulating variables and morph targets, based on multiple parent-genes. Difficulty is adaptive based on battles won/lost.
All content was created during the game jam timeframe, with the exception of:
- The leg animations use an (unfinished) procedural walk design system (made by myself) to allow various run speeds / character sizes.
- Bullet & blood particle FX which I created previously and adapted to this project.
- Level materials were created using Substance Painter.
- Hit/Shoot sounds modified from previous projects.
- Text font: Oxanium.
All other assets & code were created specifically for this project.
