Thousand Year Dragon
About
A terrible curse plagues your family. Your life ends month after your 18th birthday. Like all your ancestors before you have but minutes to search the ancient family estate to find a way to break the curse.
# Disclaimer
So this is more of a bare bones prototype then a game.
I took this LD as learning opportunity to try a bunch of unity things I've never done before.
Ended spending a good chunk of my time wrestling with the new input system in unity and getting movement working which is still buggy and not great.
# What didn't get done
This was originally going to be small rogue lite that would slowly get harder each time you died. But sadly didn't have time time to build more than 3 tiny areas that aren't really challenging or interesting.
The ghost was originally going to be a merchant. Giving you the choice to push on and try and break the curse or go back to them with any loot collected that run to buy town improvements that would make future generations life easier. If you didn't get back to him before you died you lost all loot.
- Things that you would have been able unlock through the town upgrades as time permitted:
- Church - Unlocks professions, Makes the profession preacher available (first hit on a run costs no life)
- Circus - Makes Acrobat profession available - (can double jump)
- Vegetable Garden - Add 30 seconds of life to all future generations
- Repair Bridge - No longer need to jump across the opening bridge.
- Repair Coach road - Can visit the castle in night or day mode.
- Dark Forest - Add new enemies to the castle and unlocks Lumberjack profession (10x damage to plant enemies)
- School yard - Can choose to come as kid (smaller, faster, more time lost on hit)
- Pond - Future Generations can swim and Add 30 seconds to life.
- Blacksmith - Adds an extra free hit to future generation, Unlocks blacksmith profession (slower, double life)
- Art Dealer - Adds Art Dealer Profession (certain treasure only available as the art dealer)
- Cathedral - Can take two professions but start with less health.
There are no enemies, animations, or attacks.
The giant tree was going to be thing you could cut down over generations.
The last boss was originally going to start off really week, but get stronger every 100 years gaining new attacks and patterns. the generation at thousand year mark would just be a single ultra hard boss battle.
