Tiny Barbarian DX reviews and comments

I recommended this game... Two and a half years ago. I loved the gameplay, the graphics, the music. But since then, several things have happened which led me to write this opinion. I should rather say "nothing happened" because absolutely no content came out, there are still only 2 episodes out of the 4 promised (it is written "coming soon" in the menu, ahah). History of getting even more out of the world, our friends have found a Publisher and are ready to release this game on Nintendo switch. In the meantime, the PC version is completely abandoned. And as if it wasn't enough, the game went from €10 to €28!!! = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Update November 30, 2017: after completing the 2 new episodes, I decided to keep my negative opinion. Tiny barbarian is a very friendly game and you feel it has been done with passion. But it is also far from perfect and I have not really enjoyed the new episodes although there are some good surprises in the 4th. The difficulty rests largely on the frustrating and often deadly falls. The levels are very vertical or go above the vacuum and our barbarian is soft and flies to the slightest damage received. But it would go without this price increase. One wonders if most of the positive opinions would always be if they had been written today and so I find it very limiting. Bought 3 years ago for €10, I found the game very well. Since then, we've had shovel Knight (€23), Cuphead (€20), hollow Knight (€15), OWL boy (€23), Ori and the blind forest (€20)... In comparison, there is nothing that justifies the €28 of tiny barbarian in my opinion

Tiny barbarian DX is a simply excellent platform game. I recommend it to all lovers of the genre, for its style, its level design, its extra music. With a well-dosed difficulty, good physics, combos, a bit of RNG and hidden objects, it's also a perfect game for the speedrun. The first episode, the serpent Lord, was put in the mouth. Relatively course once mastered, the classics of the platform are present: the charismatic bosses, the mount (a big Matou), an elevator phase, some secrets to discover and even... Golden Axe goblins! The reference to Conan and the cult of the Snake is pleasant and well integrated. The various combos of the barbarian opens a little reflection on the best way to defeat the enemies. All these details already made it a very nice little game. With the arrival of the 2nd episode, ruins of Xanadu, the game is a little bit. It becomes longer, harder, with new mechanics like Creepers and their special inertia as well as a new mount: a bee! The scenery varies pleasantly, from the cliff to the hive, through the jungle and... The monkey ship! Some will say that the addition of this sci-fi passage is too lagged with the sword & sorcery side, but personally it did not shock me and it made me laugh more than anything else. The only complaint I can make to this addition (free, remember) are the too many phases of auto-scrolling. Fortunately, they are not too harsh! And then once again, the references are good and well done, especially that of Donkey Kong. Anyway, maybe when the next episode arrives, the wait will be long... But that this detail does not prevent you from discovering the adventures of our little barbarian, because the quality is at the rendezvous. To consume without moderation!
