Architecture Project at the Manchester School of Architecture

‘To Act in the Arena of Masculinity’ is focused on the underlying architectural strategies that sculpt the built environment to reinforce masculine performance. 

The financial district typology in particular both produces and reflects the masculine body in a contemporary arena of masculine performativity. The game’s narrative portrays the experiences of moving through such a space as someone who is forced to conform to societal expectations and undertake processes of restraint.
