Two Brothers reviews

TWO BROTHERS Developer: Ackk Studio (2013) type: multiplayer adventure: none. Filed: Uncategorized. DLC: none. I was following the development of this game for several months. I discovered two brothers on Greenlight just after I finished anodyne. I was really looking forward to the game so because the style seemed similar. A retro adventure game with a simple story that recalls the SNES games of the time. Two brothers looks more like what we had on Gameboy back then. So the game came out a few weeks ago and I even pre-bought it on humble bundle! Terrible disappointment....---gameplay---an adventure-type game that reminds a lot of Zelda. The controls are very simple, three action buttons and arrows. The problem is that the quality of the combat system is very bad. The hit detection against the enemies is not adequate at all. It is difficult to judge how far the monster is because the graphs are not clear depending on which side we face. Throughout the game, you have characters that follow you. Some people fight other can hold objects with them for example. Except that the artificial interest in the fights is really crappy. The most part of the time, the other only follows without doing anything. It strikes from time to time and rarely in a useful way. And the bugs... I never do a review without finishing the game or at least be moving enough to have a point of view. Two brothers is a exception. There is so much glitch in this game that it becomes unplayable. In my case, after beating the first boss and being out of the island where are Dungeon is, the game has completely planted. I close and come back to realize that I am back in the first city, without a sequel to history and no events happening possible. And no, I wouldn't do another game again. I even managed to pass a room with a glitch because the real way would not work. How did I do that? I have no idea. ---Presentation---the game atmosphere is intriguing. The graphics are the ones that had it on Gameboy. The whole thing is charming. There are many flaws that break the mood. The music is not constant. 8-bit music succeeds in dramatic piano frames with no logical sequence. In addition, the texts always stay at the bottom of the screen even if you change level until something else is happening, very assaulting. Not to mention the texts that parade too quickly leaving us no time to read them. The story still seems interesting. Roy, the main character dies in an affair with his wife. He discovers once rendered to heaven that the colors exist. Troubled by this experience, he and his brother do research to regain his colors that they do not see (because the graphs are black and white). The idea is charming! Except that the game is so unplayable that I do not even want to continue. ---Lifetime---no idea. Not had the patience to continue. In short, unless the developers patch (and they have a lot of work to do!), don't touch that. My note for two brothers: 3/10 edit: I had an Exchange with the developer of the game. The guy was really friendly and even repaired my save file. I must say that it is rare to have a service of this quality in video games. So I decided to give two brothers a second chance. But... Not. After one or two hours of games later, I still fell somewhere without a way to get out of the level. So I closed the game and never finish it. I was going to rewrite the criticism once the game was over but I finally decided to leave it as well. The game is also poorly programmed and I am completely demotivated to finish it.
