Utopic
About
If you've ever muttered, "I'd certainly do better if I ruled that country", then this game is for you! Utopic is a faithful recreation of the classic 1981 Intellivision game, Utopia. Players are tasked with managing their territories and balancing resource gathering, population growth, and economic development in order to create the perfect Utopia.
Some cool additions in this remake include:
- Modifying the number of fish, pirates, weather, and gold!
- Smaller tiles that give room for placing many more buildings!
- An AI opponent to play against! AI vs AI also available!
- End game score screen!
Player 1 uses WASD to move, keyboard numbers to place buildings, and space to control their boats
Player 2 uses ARROW KEYS to move, numpad numbers to place buildings, and numpad enter to control their boats
Pressing 'G' will show unit benefits, prices, and placement button
Pressing 'M' will mute all audio effects
Known IssuesWill address these once I have the time
- AI success can vary from game to game.
- AI boat pathfinding is finnicky.
- Pirates don't currently pathfind around PT boats
[4/9/23] - Fixed fishing audio not playing properly
CreditsSpecial thanks to Geoff Ramsey and Burnie Burns from Rooster Teeth, whose 2011 video on Utopia inspired me to create this game. I had a lot of fun working on it, and here's to that rematch in 2041!
