About

Volume is an indie stealth-action game developed by Mike Bithell Games.

Setting

The game is set in the same timeline as another game developed by Mike Bithell named Thomas Was Alone and takes place after the events of it. Volume's story is a modern take on the tale of Robin Hood. A thief named Robert steals a mysterious device called Volume that allows for the simulation of heists in order to attempt a military coup. Robert decides to stream the heists on the internet.

Gameplay

The game is heavily inspired by the Metal Gear Solid game series. The game pays its homage to the Japanese video game series even in its camera work as it closely resembles the same top-down third-person view angle.

There are 100 levels present in the game. The objective of each level is to unlock an exit point by collecting all the gems scattered across the level and get out of there as soon as possible without being spotted by the guards. The game offers a high rate of replayability as the performance of the player is evaluated and tracked on global leaderboards.

The players can't kill the guards, yet they unlock a vast arsenal of various gadgets that can be used to distract the guards further into the game.

The game comes bundled with a level editor which allows for the creation of your own missions. The players have to complete their levels before sharing them with the community.

Beautiful minimalistic graphics, wonderful soundtrack, progresive dificulty. If you don´t have enough with that there is a great editor with which you can create your own levels or you can play levels created by others. I love it.

Stealth puzzle games a little in The Style of Metal Gear Solid. Well done, the Game consists of 100 short Levels. By Bringing in New Gadgets, Opponents and Ambient details, it remains varied until the End. The Story is sweet, but rather fleeting (nothing that gets stuck). Play through something for one-off. Rating: 7/10

Unfortunately, Volume is not the next Hit from the "Thomas was Alone" Maker. Although the Game already offers good Knob Fun, the Mass of Levels somehow feels like Work. After a good three Hours I managed 60 of the 100 Levels (like about 8% of the Steam Players). Since the certainly good and funny Story is told so casually, I am unsure whether I will tackle the last 40 Levels. 3/5

Pro: Sneak game with good Graphics and Story Contra: In the Beginning too light levels, and the last ones are then very heavy. Verdict: Too Expensive at Full Price, but in the Sale or Bundle definitely worth a Try. Tight Recommendation. Fun 3/5 Power whim Price/5 power 2/5 full Price too expensive Graphic 5/5 For an indie veil top! Sound 3/5 A bit more Variety would have been nice

Yes, the Story is rather short, and more Background of the 100 Base Level. Despite visual Minimalism, though, it's a detailed and humorous to political Retelling of the Robin Hood saga with modern Setting, including Social Media, Streaming, and Flemings. Texts suggest that Volume is set in the same Universe as Thomas Was Alone, KIs are common but, like the People of England, Came under the Knend of the Gisborne empire. Again (briefly) the Identity and Self-responsibility of the KIs is discussed. The End promises even more Stories from this Universe. The Levels themselves are a successful Mix of Puzzle and Slider, and the level editor will provide great Supplies from the Community. A few small but not very disturbing Bugs are still in it-the Sound piece, if you are discovered, will let you reduce the Music Volume quite quickly. The Developer has already commented on the Forum that this needs to be reconsidered. Oh, and of course again a phenomenal Soundtrack by David Housden.
